    Khan has stagnated under Roach!

    Under Roach, Khan has improved considerably, however he has not shown any real improvement since the Maidana fight.

    Instead of predominantly focusing on speed and movement, Roach should have been teaching Khan how to stake out the middle of the ring, defend on the inside, and to sit down on his punches. Seriously, if anybody can sacrifice a little speed for power, it's Amir Khan.

    I believe that Amir Khan won last night, even with the point deductions, but that fight could have been made a whole lot easier if Khan was technically proficient in a few more areas; areas that Roach should have recognised he was weak in.

    He's still young, and has lots of time to work on his game, but I don't think Roach can improve him any more than he already has done. I would like to see Emmanuel Steward take over as Khan's coach. He would get Khan using his jab and height more (abandoned it after a few rounds last night), improve his ring generalship/staking out the middle of the ring, and turn his right right into a more dangerous weapon.

    Also, I don't know if Roach and Ariza are overworking Khan or what, but his stamina and strength seemed to abandon him after a few rounds last night. Maybe a new strength and conditioning routine would do him good.

    roach already said that he doesn't try to change the fighter, but he tries to improve on what the fighter already got.

    roach can't turn khan into something he's not.

    pressure fighters will always give khan problems.

      You've summarized perfectly, although I disagree with you on khan moving over to steward but if roach can't teach Amir how to negate inside work or even learn to work the inside the he's going to have problems. I think you're spot on on the mark with khan moving too much and tiring himself out with unnecessary movement. He has to learn to hold the middle of the ring and push the opponent back using his combos.

      Brilliant summary mate

        Roach needs to teach Khan a good defence.

          I don't ever recall seing Amir or Manny doing defensive work with Roach, it all seems like offensive work.

          Amir's defence is leakier than a rusty bucket.

            Khan's defence is;

            Ring generalship.
            Moving in and out of range.
            Covering up on the ropes.
            Flurrying so he can't be countered.
