Khan fought like a big version of Manny last night, throwing all sorts of punches instead of working behind a jab. It made him look extremely wild and wreckless at times.
Khan had recently shown that he can stick that jab in your face and disrupt your rhythm whilst setting up shots, but last night he seemed to be trying to fight like Manny Pacquiao. It doesn't seem like Roach tailors to his fighters styles or is even addressing glaring weaknesses, but rather hopes to have them rely on handspeed and activity. Khan's defence is very leaky - he gets hit with a lot of shots even with his guard up and can't defend uppercuts.
Manny throws mad punches like that because that is natural to him, but Khan developed with more standard fundamentals which seemed to be thrown out of the window last night. I don't recall many straight shots from Khan just weird looping punches.
All in all I hope that this gives Amir the reality check he needs, because he has gotten wayyyy too big for his boots.
