I took it to mean, Peterson took less money for a better chance at winning the fight, as opposed to just cashing out. If Peterson had of doubted his chances he would have been smarter to take a big payday and a much harder task going to England. In the end the move paid off for Peterson because although he got less cash he got the win. If he'd lost it would have been dumb.

Merchant is an idiot.
