Paul looked like damaged goods in that Lara fight. Sergio clearly damaged the persona that once was Paul "The Punisher" Williams. Now, he's Paul "keep me the F away from a southpaw" Williams. Even his promoter has said that. Hell, his trainer after the Sergio fight, and the Lara fight said it was something that doesn't need correcting, "it's a punch he didn't see," I recall hearing repeatedly. I'm not sure how many lead lefts a fighter needs to take before he learns to keep his damn right hand up to block them!

I hope he gets back into things and takes on right handers in a few fights to help extend his career because if he gets back in there with a lefty who has power, that lead left down the middle or over the top will ice his career.

I say stay away from Lara or Martinez type fighters until Williams can fix his defensive problems ... and in some ways, his offense.

Perhaps the problem is that he needs to try out another trainer.

He can't continue to fight these guys back to back without fixing his problems first. Make Williams get his confidence back and see him throwing 100+ punches per round .... with time, he may be able to do it again with those guys. NOT NOW!!!

I will believe it when I see it. His side has made it clear they don't want a southpaw. Will he fight the linear middleweight champ again and demand a catchweight? Sure he'll fight in three weight classes as long as they can be catchweight fights.
