Khan not convinced Pacquaio can beat Floyd Mayweather Jr

Amir Khan has laughed off suggestions that Manny Pacquiao is in decline - but refuses to predict that the Filipino will be able to defeat Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

Khan has been forced to deny rumours of a rift between himself and Pacquiao, who trains at the same gym, in recent months after a couple of controversies: firstly when the Brit claimed Pacquiao's camp do not like him sparring with their man, then when he hinted the WBO welterweight champion was fortunate to beat Juan Manuel Marquez last month.

WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Khan insists a fight between himself and Pacquiao will never happen, but the duo are in direct competition as both battle to secure a bout with Mayweather next year. Talks are ongoing between Pacquiao and Mayweather over a May 5 showdown - and if it goes ahead, Khan is refusing to call a winner.

"I don't think Manny's fading - his last fight [Marquez] was tough but that's boxing for you," Khan told sportinglife.com. "As I always say, if you're going to go in a shower you're going to get wet, if you're going to go in a boxing ring you're going to get hit. Predicting the outcome of that fight [Manny v Floyd], is too hard to call, but everyone wants to see it and I hope it happens."

Khan faces Lamont Peterson in Washington on Saturday in what is expected to be his final fight before moving into the welterweight division. Reports have suggested his maiden voyage at 147lbs will be against unbeaten Brit Kell Brook, but Khan rejects these rumours.

"I'm not interested in talking about Kell Brook as he's just using my name to gain publicity for himself," he said.

Of course, why would he when he himself wants a shot at Floyd?

Poor Khan would get embarrassed by Floyd and any B class fighter for that matter.

            money may can't fight southpaws

the chavez fight he got wacked with the southpaw left that opened a cut on his brow
the sanders fight he got wacked with the southpaw left that opened a cut on his brow
the corley fight where he was put on ***** street by the southpaw left, and right
the judah fight where he was put on ***** street from a southpaw left
i would mention the ortiz fight, but ortiz is a righty in disguise, and he did get in his right hook from the southpaw stance(along with the only straight left he threw)

how many southpaws has floyd fought? oh yea, 6
forgot the mitchell fight where this happened

pacquiao isnt as technically sound as sharmba mitchell, zab judah, demarcus corley, or any of those guys you mentioned. mayweather knocks pacquiao out easily and early. i could see mayweather 1-punch KO'ing pacquiao. pacquiao is good at jumping in recklessly with his head. amir khan does the same thing too. fred roach doesn't even teach his fighters a game plan, maybe its because he never fought with one. that's why he works with guys who are physically gifted or too big for their division. put any roach fighter in with a guy who isn't washed up or has some kind of physical disadvantage and watch them all get taken to school. half of his fighters physical advantages are catchweights on the scale or having his fighters in divisions they dont belong in and the other half is ariza's special blend power shakes. they're all on steroids and their only defense is running around the ring or taking punches to the face. if pacquiao was fighting in divisions he belonged at in 2000-2008 he would have been spanked by guys like jose luis castillo, diego corrales, zab judah, kostya tszyu, arturo gatti, ben tackie, stevie johnston, ebo elder, so on and so forth. he just happened to finally move up to the correct division once all the guys there had damaged each other and gotten old or were having trouble making the weight.

if anyone should be a hero in the philippines it's gerry penalosa

He can't fight southpaws, when every single one hes faced hes beat convincingly and by a wide margin.

Are you seriously saying that because Floyd got caught by a couple of shots in a 12 round fight that he can't fight southpaws? When the reality is that in each of those fights he won most of the rounds clearly? Shows how high a standard you hold Floyd at for getting caught by the odd shot in a 12 round fight.

                    Bums?

                    Ortiz 29-2-2
                    Judah 34-3-0 at the time
                    Corley 28-2-1 at the time
                    Mitchell 56-4-0 at the time

Not saying these guys were quite on Manny's level, but they aren't bums either.

Your picking one or two specific moments in a 12 round fight and claiming he can't fight them? Yeah Floyd struggles with southpaws more than orthodox fighters but saying he can't fight them is insane, especially if your saying it for the reasons you choose to use.
