Thing with Khan is that, while he does have a lot of British fans, there are a lot who hate him. (For really dubious reasons)

He used to go to college with an ex-girlfriend of mine. I didn't know him; just said aight here and there, ya know? This is when he was 18-19, so just before he turned pro when he'd sometimes go and train in Cyprus, and the first few fights of his pro career. He always seemed a perfectly normal guy to me.
He also volunteered once for my little sister's sports day at school and apparently he said "hellooooo" in a naughty voice to my mum. That would have been about April/May 2004.
I have no issues with him whatsoever. Some people just find themselves under disproportionate scrutiny, and in the UK Amir is one of them. Watching his recent rise has been very sweet for me as a fan of fast-handed boxers.Last edited by whoelibits; 12-09-2011, 03:04 PM.

I don't like how people who don't like Khan, and how he carries himself are deemed petty or hating him for improper reasons.
I like Khan the boxer, I'm an advocate for him on many boxing forums (I've only really started posting here today, so there's probably little proof of it here...) He has a lot going for him, fast hands, power, and he's got the build and reach to continue his success at 147 and above.
He also seems to genuinely want to take on all comers, which is rare, he offered Bradley a great deal of money to prove who was the best and 140, and Bradley turned his nose up at it. (Though a Bradley promoted by Top Rank fighting Khan in a few fights time will probably benefit both if there is no hiccups along the way)
But he's not the finished article, he was made look a fool against McCloskey, and if he can't hit McCloskey, he sure as **** isn't going to get anywhere with Floyd who's far more elusive and way better defensively.
Khan's footwork needs a bit of work too, he's looked awkward enough in a few of his previous fights.
All that I could probably get over, as he is young and still learning.
It's how he carries himself in the media, that I don't like.
Manny does poorly against Marquez, he makes comments that he should quit boxing altogether, then later claiming he didn't despite it being televised.
It's his ****iness that annoys me, suffice to say if the lad didn't open his mouth and in my opinion didn't disrespect a lot of boxers he's faced, or could face... then I'd have no issue with him.
Unfortunately he's fairly popular and always in the media, thus my grievance.

I liked Khan a lot, though I'm liking him less and less. The guy talks too much, and he's not very bright. He just says dumb stuff. Granted, he is only 22-23 (I think). Khan should take lessons from Andre Ward. A great fighter, yet humble. Gets in the ring. Handle's business. Goes back to training and his family.
Shut up and box, Khan!

Khan should stay in America, he is more appreciated there.
Froch is even more appreciated in America than he is in Britain.
But at least Froch does not get the hate Khan gets.
Khan could be one of Britain's greatest ever, but he will still get slated more in Britain than in the states and there will be still an army of haters begging for Khan to lose.

khan has been well supported in britain since day dot. sure, there was/is also an element of dissent, but that's just part and parcel of having such a high profile.
he is a bit inarticulate and a bit of a boor, but i think he's starting to find some swagger these days and i'm growing to like him. i hope he continues to trash talk and backs it up in the ring.

Sure Khan said Pac has fights in his tank, but it is true that Pac should look after his resume.
He is also very ******. A lot of sports stars don't study but train hard at a young age.
Khan was junior olympic champ in 2003 at 16. Silver at Olympics at 17.
