I think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Everyone says Wladimir has a bad chin, but he has never been dropped by a fighter having a KO ratio less than 50% at heavyweight. Ward barely has a 50% KO ratio at super-middleweight. Wladimir wouldn't have to worry about Ward's punches at all. He could just walk up to him the entire fight throwing punches. It would be like Margarito-Cotto 1 except 5 times as brutal.

He's just saying as a fighter and as a champion, he isn't one who has the doubt of losing in his head "I'm wired to think that way." Before that, he said that to get a HW title, he'd need to fight the 'right heavyweight', by which he didn't mean the Klitschkos.

Picking the 'right heavyweight' (was) possible, suppermiddleweight Roy Jones did that with Ruiz, he also had Lewis available at that time but he knew it wasn't the right one to pick. In the 1990's it was still possible, in the 1980's too with some alphabet titelholders that weren't very good (exclude Tyson, Holmes). After that too big the heavies. Ward has skills and is both taller and heavier than some good heavyweights of the past, that he could beat. Greb was both lighter and shorter than him, but today scene is different, Ward gets destroyed by all hard punchers and good overall complete heavyweight boxers of today.
