As reported on Wednesday, former champion Tomas Rojas denied recent allegations that he took a dive against Jorge Arce in their bout which took place in September 2007 in Las Vegas. Mexican newspaper Notiver published an interview where a writer printed quotes from Rojas, claiming the boxer told him that he took a dive in exchange for 100 thousand pesos and television exposure.

i trained with rojas and in the gym we all knew about this at the time, but im pretty shocked that this came out on public it is something that happens almost in every boxing event in mexico.

I remember watching this fight live a few years back. Rojas was outboxing the crap out of Arce and then got hit with that body shot. Even then there was speculation of a dive, but the shot seemed to be hard and effective. I guess only he and his team know if it was a dive or not.

I just saw the final round again. If Rojas took a dive, he could have fooled me because prior to the body shot he was swinging for the fences and seemed to be trying to KO Arce.
