I just found out that the Toney-Lebedev fight happened...must have passed me by...and watched a fair amount of it. And frankly Im kind of shocked that Lebedev didnt put him away, since it seemed like he could have finished the job multiple times, even early on if he had simply put up a little more smart pressure. I was fully expecting a stoppage from him leading up to this fight.
I got this same impression when he fought Jones, and was expecting him to put Jones away earlier as well.
Just to make clear: this isnt a hate thread in any way. Lebedev is a decent, although not amazing, fighter who probably should have a win over Huck. Im just confused as to why he doesnt put guys away when it clearly seems he could.
Is he a sadist who enjoys beating up past greats?
Was he simply carrying Jones and Toney out of pity/respect/he had money on himself by winning in a certain fashion?
Or has he developed a sparring partnerish type of mentality, where he backs off a little after getting work done?
Anyways, I hope to see him fight the best in the division instead of paydays like Jones and Toney in future, I think those would be good fights.
