    Kirkland vs Molina; for What?

I really don't understand this fight.

I'm not trying to discredit Molina, but from what I saw, he really isn't anything special. He's had a few decent victories in the last few years, but that's where it stops. He's nothing more than a new version of Carlos Baldomir from 2006. He wins a few fights that he wasn't suppose to win and all of a sudden people classify him as a contender.

If Kirkland destroys Molina like he would anyone else at 154 besides Martinez, his win will just be discredited in the end. If anything, this fight is great for Molina. Once he loses, he'll finally get his title shot with Canelo.

I just don't see how people are saying this fight will be competitive. The match-making in this fight isn't as bad as the Cintron vs Canelo fight was, but it's not far behind.

As stacked as 154 is, when will the champions of the division face each other or finally get tested.

Didn't see the fight but many people said Molina should have beat Lara and he is coming off a win over Cintron on Showtime. Kirkland is staying active and there could have been much worse match ups.

That's really insulting to Molina to say he is the new Carlos Baldomir. Molina has actual skills, and actual wins over good fighters besides Zab Judah. He arguably beat Lara, he wiped the ring with Kermit Cintron, and he can't get a fight to save his life against anyone else because of those fights.

Kirkland-Molina is very interesting fight between two guys who will likely have difficulty getting anyone else in the ring. Very good fight.

Genuinely excited about this fight. Molina showed Cintron up for what he is, he also exposed the myth of Lara, Chavez needed nice judges to beat him...in fact Molina is arguably the most under-rated fighter in a division of under-rated fighters.

Molina is avoided fighter for a reason.

            Big risk and low reward.

These fights build character and respect among fight fans.

Hagler fought a lot of these kind of fights coming up.

Kirkland can gain ranking across the board with a win.

I wasn't trying to insult Molina. I respect any fighter willing to get in the ring.

Here's what I was saying. Molina drew with Lara, yes. But Lara himself is nothing more than a "prospect" fighting on ESPN like Molina was. At least when Baldomir beat Judah, Judah was a proven champion with credibility at the time.

Molina wiped the floor with Cintron, yes. I compare Molina's victory over an over the hill Cintron like I would compare Baldomir's victory over an over the hill Gatti (RIP) at the time. I wasn't trying to disrespect Molina, I'm just calling it how I see it. At the time, I don't think Baldomir lost in like 5 or 6 years, just like where Molina is now.

The point is, Kirkland has nothing to win with this fight. This thread is more of a shot at the WBC and other match makers for not living up to their promise and giving Kirk a shot at the title once he beat Angulo. The same can be said for Molina. Canelo fought the loser between Molina and Cintron as oppose to fighting the winner.

If you really think Molina is no better than Carlos Baldomir, than you need to watch more of him. I'll just leave it at that.

It's a great fight for both because they are both desperate for quality opponents. Whoever wins will drastically up their standing within the division.
