No, Floyd is not a god, I am not one of those morons. But, Floyd is the greatest boxer to lace them up, in his era, and the real fighter of the decade, sorry Manny.
People always like to say Floyd never fought anyone but Manny has fought all these beasts at Welterweight. But, how many fighters has Manny fought at 140 or above that had titles (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, RING, not the IBO which is what Hatton had going into the fight with Manny) going into the fight with him???? 1, Cotto, and he won his title over Michael Jennings. De La Hoya at 145, no title. Hatton at 140, had the IBO title, not one of the 5 major titles. Cotto had the WBO title after he beat Jennings. Clottey, had no title, hadn't even won a fight in 2 years. Margarito, had no title, that was a vacant 154 lb title at a CW of 150 lbs. Mosley, had no title after getting dominated by Floyd. Marquez, had no title at Welterweight.
Sure, you can critique Floyd's resume as well, but he's fought 6 fighters at 140 or above that had major titles going into the fights with him. Gatti, had the WBC title. Judah, had the IBF title. Baldomir, had the WBC and RING titles. De La Hoya, had the WBC title. Mosley, had the WBA title. Ortiz, had the WBC title.
So yeah, you can critique both fighters resumes, but Floyd does catch a lot of crap for no reason from his haters.
And people say Floyd ducked this guy or that guy, mainly Cotto and Margarito, but than refuse to say Manny ducked anyone. Also, Floyd and his camp had been calling out Cotto since 2006, to which Top Rank said "Cotto isn't ready for Floyd". Than, when Floyd announces he's done after Hatton, Cotto and Top Rank say Floyd is ducking. But, if you're going to say Floyd did that, than didn't Manny Pacquiao duck rematches with Barrera (4 years) and Marquez (4 years and 3 1/2 years)??? Also, didn't Manny avoid Raheem in 2006, after Raheem schooled Morales??? Didn't he do a nice job of avoiding Guzman in 2008, who was unbeaten, one of the top contenders at the time??? Or how about Mosley in 2009 and 2010, when Shane was coming off KO wins over Mayorga and Margarito??? Or how about Berto in 2010, when Andre was unbeaten??? Or how about Ortiz in 2011, when Victor was coming off his biggest win over a previously unbeaten Berto??? So, there are questions with everyone, that's all I am trying to say.
Manny and Floyd both catch a lot of heat for no reason at times. For instance, Marquez was NEVER robbed against Pacquiao. They were all close fights that could have gone either way, end of story.
