  • Comments Thread For: Cotto Makes it Clear: Bob Arum Will Always Promote Me

WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is starting to get a little annoyed with the continued rumors regarding his possible parting of ways from promotional company Top Rank. Last Saturday's rematch with Antonio Margarito was the final fight of Cotto's contract with Top Rank. Even before Cotto stopped Margarito in nine rounds, rumors began to circulate that Cotto was going to leave Top Rank in order to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5.

Cotto is being loyal to Bob I had a feeling he wouldn't leave TP and sign with GBP for a Mayweather fight

I don't know why people want it Cotto to leave TR in the first place....TR has been really good to Cotto.

If only if it was that easy for Cotto to get a fight with Mayweather im sure he would be on the next flight over but dont forget Cotto and Floyd are business partners now and even kicked it together in PR

That is an accurate statement. He is a bona fide star now after his "redemption".

Looking at his statement at the "faceoff" vs Margarito, Cotto sees boxing is simply a profession. I think he is thinking maximizing his career at TR. He's not THE "cash cow" but at least he is at least a "cash goat". An upgrade may be warranted after the PPV number for Margarito.

I don't see why Cotto has to go to GBP from financial standpoint. He may get another chance at Pac which provides big payday. Why does anyone think Cotto would get paid better (or treated fairly) fighting against Mayweather.

Because they think Bob was feeding him to fighters. The only time he was ever an underdog is against Pac.

A lot of this forum kept saying Arum was feeding him to Foreman, yes Foreman

Yes pretty much. People always go on how Arum is greedy with money but GBP only paid Ortiz like 2.5 mil to fight Mayweather. Berto was making half that fighting Hernandez

Which basically translates to.."Arum is promising me a Pacquiao rematch."
