    Cotto/Margo I vs. Cotto/Margo II (compubox)

    Let's compare Cotto/Margs I vs Cotto/Margs II

    Over 9 rounds, total punches:

    Cotto/Marg I

    Cotto - 250 / 582 (43%)
    Margo - 218 / 841 (26%)

    Cotto/Marg II

    Cotto - 210 / 493 (43%)
    Margo - 157 / 700 (22%)

I think that numbers show that even though Margo tried to establish the tempo of the fight with constant pressure, he couldn't unload. Cotto threw about 10 punches per round less in the second fight, while maintaining the same connect percentage. Meanwhile Margo threw about 16 less punches per round, while dropping his connect percentage 4 points.

    Pedro's tactics worked.

Yesterday Cotto said he plans to keep Pedro in his corner.

Cotto looked better than he has in a very long time. You do need to worry about his power at 154 (which is an under-rated division), though he certainly has skills and looked fresh which was good.

The gameplan was perfect. Margs was throwing almost all of his punches from the outside and missing. In the first fight most of them were coming when Cotto was on the ropes and letting him go to work with uppercuts.

Whenever Margs got close this time he was pushed back, tied up or caught in exchanges, there was no sitting back on the ropes and doing nothing from Cotto this time. Diaz needs to return, I don't think it's just a coincidence that Miguel looked the best he has in years.

I'd like to see Cotto fight Clottey, or Cotto Pacquiao. I don't see Cotto beating Mayweather. But I'd pay to watch it.
