I think it was sensible decision by him. He could have easily been seriously injured in his last fight. Rodriquez battered him throughout the fight but in the last round he took an inordinate amount of punishment. I think Pawel proabably looked at the tape of the fight and said to himself something like "I don't want to put my life and health at risk to make a living."

Also, it's been mentioned before, that he works in construction full time and he has that the fall back on...

No shame in that.. Wolak is a warrior and always comes to fight. No need in hanging around to long.

sucks to hear he's going out on a loss but it's his decision and if he feels it's for the better then no one can disagree with him. gotta thank him for the entertaining fights he put on, wish him luck on everything he does.

Makes sense you work to live, why put your health to risk.

seems a bit premature but if your hearts not in it, no use fighting on. good luck, wolak.

Pawel retired at the right time. He put on some incredible fights and was all heart. Good luck in the future, Pawel!

30 years old...wonder what he's gonna do now for a living. I know he is not a millionaire or made a ton of money. Or maybe he saved some for a rainy day, but I don't think he got 6 digit paydays did he? He probably is gonna work a regular job now. Well I don't know what to say about his career, he is a top 10 JMW and is in a position that other non-pro boxers who wanna make it, would kill for. And he's just throwing that away. Not like he's being knocked around the ring and getting knocked out. Waste of a career IMO.

That's good for him. I mean in one fight, he'd probably make what he makes from construction in one year. Minus the possible brain damage.

He is a construction. Boxing is more like a part time job for him

wolak's not very smart. now that he's been battered the last 2 fights this is when the big money fights open up to him. big name guys like cotto and alvarez will gladly fight him and he will make 200-300k to get beaten up again. more than he's ever earned before. if he doesn't want to take too much punishment just take a dive or something. come on man!
