  • Has anyone seen the Box Azteca broadcast of Cotto-Margarito II?

Seriously, I don't want to throw more fuel to the fire considering the threads that have been flooding the forum these days, but I find it very distasteful when someone from the broadcast team, which is supposed to be objective and professional, shows total bias and verges on disrespectful.

I have the utmost respect for Chavez Sr. as a boxer, but I don't think JC is fit to be a commentator on these big events. Chavez, twice, called Cotto a coward just because he was cheering for Margarito and was as frustrated as he was. Then, at the end of the fight, he proceeded to make the same conspiracy theory that has been seen to the death on these forums. He said that Cotto was protected and this was a setup. The worse thing is that the rest of the team was being reasonable and accepting that Margarito had a tough road ahead and the stoppage was justified. The team also included Marco Antonio Barrera and Travieso Arce, both knowledgeable and objective in their assessment.

This is not to bash Mexico because, if anything, these commentators did a good job and the unofficial scorecard was fair also, but I think that it looks bad when you have one commentator who is biased and talking as a fan without taking into account the consequences of said comments.

I thought Chávez Sr was cool with Cotto, since he said that he was going to probably win a UD.

But let's not fool ourselves with JCC SR. He has been an anti-puertorican "generalizer" his whole life. He even called Juanma someone who "thinks too much of himself", like who the hell does Juanma thinks he is, calling him an "orgulloso, LIKE ALL PUERTORICAN BOXERS" (or all puertoricans, I don't remember the exact quote).

I don't give much thought to what he said since I put him in the same category "brain-wise" as Iván Calderón or Joel Casamayor - there is not much up there.

What is funny is that in the post fight interview, he said that his corner made him quit because of the busted up lip.

You can clearly watch when he tells the corner he doesn't want to fight anymore.

Maybe he was objective when asked by a PR reporter but listen to what JC says at 19:05. That is disrespectful and not true at all. He's calling Cotto a coward.

Remember this is Chavez Sr. your talking about. If you ask him he will tell you he never lost a fight he had so many excuses it was ridiculous. And judging from Margarito's pathetic excuses looks like he took some post fight interview classes from Chavez. Plus Chavez hates puertoricans with a passion.

Barrera is nothing but class a great fighter inside the ring and unlike Chavez a great gentlemen outside of it. One of my favorite fighters of all time. Same goes for Marquez two great mexican warriors that have earned the respect of all boxing fans for their class inside the ring and outside.

And yet, it never ceases to amaze me how many hardcore boxing pundits forget how this dude quit on his stool to DLH of all people.

This should be the last fool commentating on cowardism. This makes him as credible as a vampire with dentures riding a vegetarian chupacabra!!!!

At 36:34 he imagines that Margo is telling him "pelea cobarde pelea cobarde".

Actually, it's just JCC Sr telling Cotto "fight you coward fight".

He also said that Cotto is a coward and has ALWAYS been a coward.

Less than a minute before Arce was just telling the fight might be stopped at the next round (it was) and that Cotto just needs to cruise to win that round.

Amazing. Chávez acting like a butthurt MArga-Stan
