Who should Alexander Povetkin fight next?

Teddy Atlas wants Alexander Povetkin to take another voluntary defense against the inexperienced 23 year old Tyson Fury.

Marco Huck called Povetkin out at the post-fight presser last Saturday night. This would be an entertaining fight.

Povetkin has a mandatory to deal with, Hasim Rahman, but will the WBA enforce it?

And Povetkin is WBA super champion Wladimir Klitschko's mandatory and according to the WBA they must fight by March 31/2013.

So who should Povetkin fight next?
    17
    Marco Huck
    17.65%
    3
    Tyson Fury
    23.53%
    4
    Hasim Rahman

    Wladimir Klitschko
    47.06%
    8
Someone else, name him in a post
    5.88%

    The poll is expired.

Wladimir if Vitali is fighting Haye. Let's see the Klits take on the best available, Lord knows the division isn't deep with quality.

concidering Teddy Atlas said to the interviewer on sat night to not even mention the Klits for 2 years i think we can count that fight out.

Huck wouldnt be the worst fight. Rahman getting anotehr shot is a joke, even if it isnt for a real title.

Fury is no where near ready for that kind of test (and might not ever be bless him)

Whats the story with Boystov? Is he out for another 17 years after breaking his fist rapping his ghands again?

Chisora showed he can fight. He's not far of getting anotehr shot imo

Boytsov has a problem with his promoter, Universum. They have no TV contract so they are just keeping their boxers inactive for now. It a shame to ruin talented boxers like Boytsov and Chakhkiev with inactivity.

well Sautherland has a tv deal, so whats the problem? Its not like they'd be fighting on a universum promotion if he fights Povetkin.

That's true, but the German rivals Sauerland and Kohl don't get along. The only reason Chagaev fought Povetkin is that the WBA decided it.

There's no good reason why Universum couldn't put Boytsov on a K-2 card though, even though they've had differences in the past they had no problems making a (voluntary) deal for Wlad-Chagaev in June 2009. I'd like to see Boytsov-Banks or Chakhkiev-Afolabi.

so in other words sautherland is making sure their rivals go out of business instead of handing them a life line.

Makes sense, even a less ****ish promoter than them would probably do the same.

Boystov Banks would be a good fight, never seen Chakhkiev before though. Is he anyway half decent?

Chakhkiev is very talented. He won the Gold Medal at heavyweight in the 2008 Olympics. He has a crowd-pleasing aggressive style - kind of like a cruiserweight Kostya Tszyu, throwing punches from all angles.

I think he'd beat any cruiserweight even now. It's saddens me to see someone like Chakhkiev being ruined by inactity.

just had a quick look at his record, not great reading tbh, he's only fought journeymen.

I doubt he could go straight to world level from that. but i'll youtube a couple of fights of his now and check him out.

                  Any particular fights you'd reccomend?

                    His last two fights.

Chakhkiev was the first to stop the durable, defensive-minded Simms.
