im an ex boxer, the speed bag is very important if your a boxer looking to add speed. It helps you a ton of speed to your game. When you start to throw a punch it all starts with the shoulders, the muscle that the speedbag works. Alot of ppl say speed bag doesnt nothing but that is not true, if it did nothing the great champions would not use it, mayweather, roy jones jr, pacquiao all the speedsters know the important of staying on top of the speedbag. Power punchers might not care for it much cause they dont rely on speed too much. Keep it mind though the speed bag only helps with your speed if you do everything, spar/mitts/heavy bags/double end bag. It all comes together in the end. The science in boxing goes deep.

Unless you want to look as talentless as Charlie Z...you better find a way to hit the speed bag with each hand individually while looking away.

since the first time I saw boxing they have been using speed abgs for training, first boxer I saw doing the speed bag was ali ...

imho from that time, if it was not important they should have remove it already from the training routine...
