But lets not pretend like this match was significant to WW or JMW in any sense. This was match was for Cotto's peace of mind and for PR to finally get a win this year. Im glad PR got a win. Its good for competition, but lets not pretend this fight was against two undefeated studs or anything.

TBH, if I was PR, I would be happy with Cotto but would be gloating about Devin. Wolak was here every single day talking **** about everyone and announcing his come out party. Devin was never heard at all, almost didn't even get the rematch. He put an end to the Wolak hype and finished stronger than most thought he would. That is something to celebrate and be proud of. Cotto getting revenge from a 2008 fight off a December 2011 damn near 2012 version of Margarito? Not really a big deal anymore.
    Agreed 100x

I’ll type slowly, in case you’re still a little woozy from Saturday night.

And if you get the sense that I’m feeling no sympathy, you’re right.

Bet you’re looking back between the Tylenols to the glory days when your man was blowing out the grimy underbelly of the welterweight division, prompting the breathless to sing his praises as the pedestrian WBO title defenses – Lujan, Cintron, Gomez, Clottey – piled up like cord wood.

I remember it reached a noisy crescendo the night he bludgeoned Miguel Cotto into surrender in 2008, and I can still recall sitting in my in-laws’ house in Tennessee – listening to the broadcast crew infer that somehow this was the guy striking fear into the heart of a then-sabbaticaled Floyd Mayweather Jr.

We all know I’m a Floyd guy. And I make no apologies for it.

But even the objective journalist type in me that night was thinking: “This dude? Really?”

I’ll bet it feels like about a thousand years ago now, huh?

A subsequent match with Shane Mosley looked like a win-win cakewalk six months after Cotto, designed to give gruff but lovable “Tony” a chance to ****e the resume with a big name whose last significant win in the division was by then already more than eight years past tense.

The fight was stopped at the moment the fight shifted in Tonys favor in fact so much so that if you watch this fight and their first fight, this started to happen in the same round again here, as it did last time for Miguel the Dr saved miguel the embarrassment of getting stopped or quitting again late in the fight..

To me this was almost a carbon copy of fight one Miguel ran a little more, and we had the eye issue, however HBO didnt want you to see it that way so they kept talking dominant this dominant that to influence you the viewer.

However its kind of funny to hear them retract that during rounds 4,5,6&7 basically stating this is the same fight
LOL, this guy just won't quit he has Cheato's **** surgically attached to his throat.

Hey ****** so Cheato had 3 rounds between three judges that means Cotto had 24, dumb ass.

        • It was well worth it. Margarito is still the same fighter and he proved he is no cheat. The reason Cotto didn't break is because he engaged a ton less during this fight. Had this fight been in Vegas Tony would have been on his way to a closer fight on the score cards and possibly a KO win since the ring would have been a lot smaller. Let's face it Cotto boxed beautifly at some points but he never hurt or even slowed down the Tornado. I'm pretty damn proud of Tony's performas because the same NY doctors who allowed Wolak to continue had to stop Tony early eventhough Tony was never hurt and had continued to press the fight at the same intensity as the 1st round. Yes it was worth it.

          • WOW listen !! I hear the little Peckerwood Lyleweather pecking away at his keyboard !!

Glad you didn't say this fight was proof that Margo used loaded gloves in the Past,,,,right ???? Kinda like me asking you how many times have you beat yer wife in the past ,,,birds of feather are just like ...............Mayweather,,,YEAH!!!!! Oh oh, sorry didn't mean to hurt yer feelings.

By the way LYLEWEATHER ,,,why pray tell,,, did JRweather DUCK Margo during the past 6 years ???

Yesterday waiting for a haircut with 4 in front of me , I took out my I phone and watched the replays of good ol Roger Mayweather. I used to pull for that dude in those years. I say Rocky Lockridge KO the SH#T out of him,,,like you pole axe his @$$. Then I Saw how Chavez KO'd his @$$ and Then watched Chavez 2 where ol Roger mang QUIT on his stool with his head hanging down.

What I'ma telling ya mang is :

SKILLS without deep gameness is only good until you meet the true elite !!

You can have a killer punch like Roger and skills out the WAZU but without Deep Gameness you might run into a Chavez or a MARGARITO !!!!!!!!! Who has just asoon to die in the ring as not to win a fight.

Wonder ,,,,cause ol Roger knows how to QUIT,,,wonder did he tell his nephew JRweather to avoid ol MARGO ??? Reckon thats what he did ???

See here it is LYLEweather,,,all the Weathers are very skillful,,,the first two , it looks like they took on all comers,,,,OLD dadweather fought the GREAT SUGAR RAY LEONARD and lost,,,poor old shoulder roll didn't work. And we know that uncleweather fought LOCKRIDGE and CHAVEZ , losing to two KO's and ,,,,,,one forbidden QUITTAGE !!!!!!!!! OH oh sorry if I hurt yer feelings agin. The third weather,,,ol JRweather,, well he has cherry picked his way thru the field for the past 6 or 7 years now and DUCKED TWO MAJOR Fighters ,,,Cotto and Margo. Dat Jrweather is smart,,,,has to be cause he aint showing himself GAME ! He went into retirement,,,remember ?? That was before Cotto and Margo got together. And the video of Margo walking up to little JRweather challenging him to a fight looked like on the video that little Jrweather was very apologetic and about to SH#T his britches !!!!

Little Jrweather just has been smarter than dadweather and uncleweather cause there is something he is missing,,,it aint' skills ,,,its gameness to face the worst situtation for him out there, and its Been COTTO MARGO and PAC.

Smart cause the weathers stick together,,,

Margo back a few years would have taken a whuppin ooopssssss,,, he would have taken the sissy punches from Jrweather and WALKED HIM DOWN and JR would have been so tired from Running he would have QUIT or he would have been caught up with and those uppercuts would have made him QUIT.

Jrweather has ALL THE SIGNS of a very very skill ful QUITTER !!!! IF Jrweather was game he would have looked to take on all comers.

Jrweather has done all he can to AVOID and DUCK all comers.

            good day

My thoughts exactly. "Hey you dumbasses that liked a guy in a sport that I write about to supliment my income! BASH BASH BASH" Why the Hell is a BPP linked article? If you want to fire out an opinion peice like this do it in the forum.

Anyway, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but i'm over it . . .Lets just hope this kind of fanboy dribble doesn't overtake the writers section. I like opinion peices but this article is really more or less just a flame.

                  • I'm positive there will be a third fight if Marg's eye heals right and Cotto loses again.

This is why I love Margarito, he didn't quit when he had one eye shut. Many other boxers quit against adversity.
