Cotto has a title, so Cotto/Chavez will still be a title fight. So, it doesn't really matter if Chavez bring his title into the mix or not. Chavez will vacate.

But the fight would be above 154 pounds, most likely at 157 or 158, so it would be a MW fight and Cotto has a LMW title ... So that belt wouldn't be on the line if he fights Chavez Jr...

Alvarez, Cotto, another PWill fight, Kirkland, Lara are all options and some of those would bring good money to the pot and more exposure. But he might get the same treatment at 154 or wherever he goes because he's high risk - low reward, but I reckon someone at 154 would take it.

The funny thing is you probably are not far off the mark when it comes to the WBC
Kirkland and Lara are good options for Sergio since both want the fight. Maybe Angulo if he makes a good comeback. The top two money makers, Cotto and Alvarez, will probably never fight Martinez though. Still, at least the division isn't filled with no-name Europeans like in middleweight. There are more marketable Mexicans and Americans in Jr. middleweight, which will do better ticket sales.

I don't wanna see Cotto fight Jr. If that's Bobs plans for Cotto then he should leave Top Rank and go to GBP. There he could get a fight with the beast Kirkland, the young star Canelo, Lara and maybe Sergio if he was to drop back to 154.

Angulo has already ducked Martinez, that won't happen but I agree with you martinez should just move down to 154.

Cotto is not fighting chavez if theres no belt at stake at 160 unless chavez can make 154

I wonder what new tactic the WBC will employ to keep Jr with the title and side stepping Martinez

Jr can't make '54...he dries out for days to get to'60 & after the weighin usually around '75...he walks around at 190 or so...he'll be much larger physically than Cotto but Cotto wins in a bout that won't happen...
