This writer stole some of my thunder but here's my take.

Cotto's face looked worse after 6 rounds in the second fight than the 1st.

Now imagine Margarito fighting with 2 eyes instead of 1, with enough plaster in his fists that his wraps would crack and Cotto fighting more stationary and Margo landing more punches and more solidly as a result= Cotto dying before the 6th round in the first fight. The ironic thing about this fight is that Cotto won but it showed that Tony didn't cheat in the 1st fight and that he's a better fighter. Sometimes the better fighter loses like Luis "El Artesano" Cruz losing his last fight to my Mexican bro even though Cruz was clearly the better fighter. Robert Garcia is to blame for Tony's loss for not stopping the fight between Margo and Pac--- which resulted in Tony's eye closing up vs Cotto. Garcia's new nickname is now "Bonehead" like that football player that scored a touchdown for the other team by running the ball 50ish(?) yards the wrong way. LOL! As for the Ricans booing the Mexican national anthem...............I was secretly rooting for Cotto because Tony insulted all Ricans and now I'm going to have to rethink my relationship with Boricuas. I understand Ricans act very hostile towards Mexicans where they are the majority. On the other hand, Mexicans ignore Ricans where we are the majority . Anyways, Margo is not the best Mexican in his division---- Lastly, if Cotto fights Chavez jr he shouldn't ask for a catchweight as De La Hoya didn't ask Trinidad for one and neither did Arce ask WV2 for same.

Folks think about it.... If Margos corner would have done their job and stopped the Pacman fight when it was obvious his face was destroyed he would have had a better chance to beat Cotto.... and still people wanted to see him 3 more rounds, further taking his chances of doing his job in the future. Just ask his family if the fight should have continued. In other words, due to the fact that Margos Corner let him fight 3 more rounds in his previous fight is the reason why he Doctor knew there was a pre-excisting conditionand acted accordingly, for god sakes he has a plastic lense on right eye!!!

I'd be surprised if he tries to fight next year.

            2. Miguel Cotto’s win over Antonio Margarito this past Saturday shouldn’t do anything to bolster the case of those who believe Margarito used tampered hand wraps in their first fight.

I do believe it’s reasonable to be su****ious of Margarito, in the absence of there ever being, well, concrete proof. But those who pointed to the state of Cotto’s face following the first Margarito fight compared to how it looked after the rematch are falling victim to a fallacy.

That’s because Margarito hit Cotto with 106 more power punches in the first fight than he did in the second fight: 237 power shots over the course of 11 rounds in July 2008, 131 over the course of nine rounds in November 2011, according to CompuBox.

In contrast, Margarito landed 134 power punches just between Round 7 and Round 11 in the first bout with Cotto, the rounds in which the fight turned in Margarito’s favor. [Click Here To Read More]
True as far as it goes, but the punches Margarito did land didn't affect Cotto to anything like the extent that they did in the first fight, IMO - they just didn't seem to have anywhere near as much power behind them. And anyway, Cotto's face was looking quite busted up well before round 7 in the first fight. Not proof but IMO strong corroborative evidence that his gloves were loaded first time round.

You can't be serious. Marg wasn't drained in that fight. He'd been fighting at Welterweight not long before and didn't have any trouble making weight.

That said I do agree that forcing the catchweight was a bitch move.

And Marg hurt Pac far worse than he hurt Cotto in the rematch. Cotto was never really hurt in the rematch, but Pac was almost screaming with pain from body punches against Marg, and was reportedly in a lot of pain for weeks after the fight.
