But the beating that Cotto got (not to mention the humiliation of taking a knee twice) is more severe than the "punishment" that Margarito got this time around.

And if you believe that Margarito had loaded wraps for the first fight, then "justice" surely wasn't served this time around.

Yes, he outboxed Margarito, which he also did the first fight.
Yes, he is the better boxer, which meant nothing when Margarito made him quit the last time.

He should have left his own signature on Margarito, either by damaging his left eye or knocking him out cold with a left hook to the body.
Not even worth responding to this rubbish......

There was no way Margarito was going to win, even if they by some miracle managed to go 12. Without the eye problems, this improved Miguel would've still schooled him. I'm impressed with Diaz. Why couldn't he use these tricks before? Jeez! It would have shaped his whole career much differently

I cant believe some of the jokers on here, Cotto went out there and OUTCLASSED his man, he boxed his ears off and he tagged him with Hard flashy shots, pushed him back and out muscled him whenever he felt like it. He smashed his eye to bits with jabs and hooks and he won every single round doing it IMO - A one sided humiliating defeat for Margarito....

          Cotto is The man

Cotto got humiliated in the first fight. Margarito busted up his face, made him take a knee (twice) and made his family cry. If you call last night revenge for that then i don't know what to say.

Ever heard of the saying "Let the punishment fit the crime"
This wasn't just another boxing match, it was redemption for both men...

The victor was supposed to make a point. Did Cotto made his?

For those who are saying Cotto outclassed and outboxed Margarito, noone is questioning that. It was a given Cotto is the better boxer, even in the first fight.

Now if you are on the "Plasterito" belief, did Cotto punish Margarito on his own right?

I think so. He'll never headline another PPV again. Miguel established that, and the myth ends with him. He trumped Margarito who looked frustrated at times and was getting tagged against a superior boxer he just couldn't catch with anything significant.
He was humiliated in the 10th, he should've listened to Miguel in the 24/7 and thought about his health not his bravado. It's so anticlimactic that in many ways it's a farce of the original fight. How humiliating, to have been humbled by Cotto who was broken psychologically after that fight...lol..

Miguel just stood there and stared Margarito down for like 10 min, watching him in his agony, being carted off on his stool like some false Chavez. It was eerie you know? There was this majestic vibe about Cotto, like he was channeling something from deep within. I can't explain what, it just seemed moving. Awe inspiring. Gratz Cotto

I don't believe I said that... I said he should have left his own signature/mark on Margarito.

If you think just doing enough to get the fight stopped and win is considered "revenge", then I suspect you are the type that gets picked on over and over even after you "tell on them".

This fight is the only one we know was fair; Cotto beat his man fairly, slapped him around with ease and got the stoppage.

For everything that took place in the first fight, there is a large * placed right beside it because it's looking very much like Marg cheated. Miguel's win is better for the simple fact that it was a fair fight. I do believe this to be a somewhat tongue in cheek thread though, that or a way to throw a back-handed compliment in Cotto's direction.

Yeah totally, he got his revenge. Margarito took the part pf the pantomime villain and Cotto did exactly what we expected him to. He closed the eye and fought smart on the inside clinches.
