It was a really enjoyable fight. Margarito was still able to put the kind of pressure on Cotto that helped wear him out the first time around, but Cotto took his shots a little better. Tony's defense is still as porous as it was three years ago, Cotto landed his left hand at will. I got the outcome I wanted, even if my prediction a few hours ago was wrong. The right guy won.
1 In all likelyhood, Chavez Jr. I don't see Bob Arum getting together with Richard Schaefer and giving us Cotto/Kirkland or Cotto/Alvarez. Chavez Jr. was talked about as a potential opponent for Cotto earlier this year, and I can see Arum going back to those plans. The Mexico/Puerto Rico rivalry still applies, it has all the makings to be a big fight at the box office.
2 I don't see Margarito retiring unless forced to. Tonight was a perfect example, he isn't going to quit if you leave the decision up to him. So if nobody prevents him from fighting again, he'll be right back in there. I wouldn't mind seeing him in with Pawel Wolak or James Kirkland. The Arum/Golden Boy fued probably prevents the latter from happening, but I'd enjoy seeing either. I think Arum's pretty much done with the guy, so you'll probably see him fed to the up and coming
