WTF??? Cotto was ready to blind Tony for life, dude...tony won 1 pity round that could have gone either way, and Cotto had control of the entir fight. I can't believe all the excuses you guys have. Poor sports. Your guy lost fair and square...Tony wanted to fight with a bad eye, he got punished for it.
What was Cotto supposed to do, stand in front of tony and just take a whooping? lol....good god.Comment

Cotto is a better fighter. End of story. If Cotto would have brought that gameplan to the first fight he would have won that fight.
It's obvious he was SO conscious of being on the ropes. In the first fight he thought he could just fight Margarito off the ropes and he got overwhelmed. He was ill prepared to fight a pressure fighter of Margarito's caliber.
I was there and Margarito was NOT stopping Cotto later in that fight. In the first fight even when people thought Cotto was dominating Margarito was doing REALLY good work rounds 2-6.
In this fight that work was not there. He did not get the early work in that would have broke Miguel later. It would have been 3 more rounds of the same thing.
You people just can't see it for what it is, it's sad.Comment

They keep making execuses on the eye. Guess what, he had two eyes to begin the fight. It was up to marg to keep it that way. He knew what would happen if they eye was messed up. Cotto even said he was goin for the eye. For all marg fans, if he still couldnt protect his eye. Thats his bad and impressive on cottos part.Comment

Yes he did..and marg fans know that..I don't get where they get off saying Mary was gonna take him..I think if the fight went on cotto ko's him..yes my autocorrect said Mary not marg and I'm gonna leave it cause marg cried more like a Mary not a warrior..i wish the fight would have continued so that marg could have been stoppedI've heard it was the make of the gloves tonight, the size of the gloves, the eye, the stoppage, etc..
nothing but excuses after excuses.
Cotto was at no point hurt in the fight.. and when you haven't won a round on some score cards and you're getting hit at will, they are going to stop it. simple as that.
cotto pitched a shut out, man up and give credit where credit is due.Comment

All of Margarito's fans talked so much nonsense pre-fight, how Marg was going to kill Cotto, now, they have more excuses than a **********. According to Marg, he had the best camp ever, and according to his sparing partners, Marg was ready to destroy Cotto. The truth of the matter is, that Marg without plaster, is a punching bag, Marg was a human piñata last night, and he better thank that dr. That stopped that fight before he was humiliated further. Stop embarrassing yourself, Marg embarrassed himself by saying Cotto hits like a girl, but his face shows a different story.Yes, I picked Tony to win assuming his eye wasn't in such a bad condition.
If I knew his eye would of swelled within 5 punches, I would of picked Cotto by TKO because I know the doctors would jump in and stop the fight, especially knowing this guy is going to fight with a broken eye.

If I knew Buster Douglas was going to be such a tough cookie against Mike Tyson, I would've been a millionaire by putting everything on Douglas.Yes, I picked Tony to win assuming his eye wasn't in such a bad condition.

If I knew JCC was going to stop Taylor in the closing seconds of the twelfth round, I would've called it.
If I knew Gatti-Ward both had tremendous hearts and guts, I would've predicted a fight of the decade type of brawl.
My point being, hindsight is 20/20. I admire you for picking on Margarito triumphing over Cotto, but unfortunately, the eye DID play a factor, like it or not. Whether Cotto would've looked as good is up to debate. The reality is Cotto won and looked very good while doing so. Cotto deserves all the credit last night.Comment

Lmao you want to talk about sore losers? For over 3 years people put up with your constant whines of plaster, steroids, etc.
The fight was stopped early and should of kept going but Cotto would of won in the scorecards. He didn't run at all, he boxed well.
I seriously think we will see a 3rd fight in a year or two.Comment

None of that relates to my comment. If I knew Buster Douglas was going to be such a tough cookie against Mike Tyson, I would've been a millionaire by putting everything on Douglas.

It's logical that a guy with a fucked up eye would get fucked up.
Thing is, noone expect that eye to be that bad.
It's like if I went, bro I got a leg injury but I'm fighting next week it's all good you can bet on me.
Turns out I got amputated.
If you would of known that, you wouldn't of thought of betting on me.
I cannot give Cotto full credit, I'm sorry. If the eye wasn't so sensitive, I would of given credit no doubt.Comment
