8oz. Reyes gloves are the quintessential puncher's glove. Horsehair, very soft foam. These are the infamous ones.

10oz. Reyes gloves are actually softer gloves than most would think, because they're puncher's gloves 'by association.' In other words, they're not nearly as favorable to the puncher as, say, a 10oz. Grant glove.

If you'll notice, fighters in the higher weight classes rarely ever wear Reyes gloves. Why? Because they have to wear the 10oz. versions which are actually not very good for a puncher. 10oz. Grant gloves, 10oz. Everlast MX gloves are both more favorable for power to a 10oz. Reyes glove.

Also, the Everlast MX glove is the Everlast equivalent of a Reyes glove. It's made with quilted horsehair and foam, just like a Reyes. The only difference is that their 10oz. gloves are more of a punchers glove than a pair of 10oz. Reyes.

In the first fight, Cotto and Margarito wore 8oz. Reyes. In this fight, they'll be wearing 10oz. Everlast MX. The MX gloves are more suitable for action than Reyes at 10oz., and therefore Margarito is not being handicapped in any way by having to wear Everlast MX gloves as opposed to Reyes. The point is moot.
      Good post........
