Why Marquez fight is not similar to PAC vs PBF
Marquez has that mental edge and not "intimidated" by Manny.
Why? Because Marquez fought Manny when he was a NOBODY, got knock down 3x and still survived. Marquez has the benefit of 24 rounds fighting Manny, and got his number. Moreover, he developed the footwork patterns, to negate MP's attacks. He danced tango with MP and his brilliance was not just his right hand, it was also his footwork.
If Manny hits you with power & speed you haven't seen before, you will mentally panic and get confused - Clottey, Cotto & Mosely went thru this! Margarito could take it due to his size, but he was just trying to stay standing with honor as that fight was his "redemption" after the hand wraps fiasco.
Floyd was surprised by Mosely & Judah in earlier rounds but rallied. In fact, Judah knocked him down but the ref didn't see the gloves touch. MP I think can surprise and daze Floyd early. Roach just has to set the traps. Floyd will not have the benefit of knowing Manny as he never fought him, unlike Marquez who was also "shocked" in that classic 1st round encounter. So Floyd, like his usual style, will use the first 4 rounds to read Pacquia0 carefully. Note that his "0" is always at the back of his mind.. This is the best time to catch Floyd.
Then the hardest rounds for MP are the last 6 rounds. He must fight a technical fight and not
let Floyd catch up. He must try to land cleaner shots; if he cant, just be more aggressive and land more punches without getting tagged embarrasingly.
Crowd will be pro-Manny, as well as the HBO commentators who are friends of Merchant. This fight will be won on "perceptions".... since both styles are so so different from each other. It will be hard to judge for sure!
