Margarito's career after beating Cotto in 2008 :

      -Got demolished by Mosley

      -Got suspended for a year

-Beat a B level guy in Mexico

-Got an undeserved title shot against Pacquiao and got demolished again
Mayorga beat a guy D level type of guy like half a year before Cotto and before that he didn't fight for a year or two. So a guy that has fought 4 times since like 2005 or 2006 was credible for Cotto?

But the point is he wasn't coming off a 12 round destruction where he got his face literally broken to pieces, Margarito is.

But compare both since 05/06 and you would see a world of difference. Also many people have come off losses only to fight for a world title again. Look at Cotto and Jennings. What did Cotto do to fight for that vacant belt? Not a damn thing. How about Yuri Foreman at 154 after getting BEAT DOWN by Pac? Nothing either.

By showing his heart in every fight and earning his right to be called a prizefighter.

Plus this is a fight a lot of people want to see- and that surpasses everything. Boxing is a business after all.
