Do you think Mayweather ducked Cotto out of fear?

First of all, I'm not a hater or anything close to crap like that. I would just like to read some opinions regarding this matter. I've never quite understood Mayweather when asked about Cotto. At first, he said Cotto was green. Then Cotto became, pretty much, the top welterweight in the world around 2007. Floyd chose to face Hatton instead. With the talent that Floyd has, seriously, I don't get why he would fear Cotto. Do you think Mayweather feels that Cotto has the style to beat him?

The original plan was for Cotto to fight and beat Marg which would've led him into a fight with De La Hoya in December. If Cotto had beaten him as well, the Floyd fight (so we think) would be much more a reality. But considering Pac himself had beaten both Oscar and Hatton as Floyd did, we all thought that fight was going to happen as early as March 2010. So who knows. Would Floyd have made it more difficult for a Cotto vs Mayweather fight to happen? Is it Bob Arum's fault? I have a feeling it would be a similar waiting game with Cotto going on to fight other fighters.

cause cotto didnt bring as much money as hatton. and thats what floyd loves, his money. i said back in 2006-2007 that cotto has the closest shot of anyone of beating mayweather, and i still think that he does

Mayweather didn't duck Cotto. Arum put him up against Brusles instead because he was a similar fighter to Cotto, but less risk if he lost. Mayweather murdered him, and that was the end of Cotto/Mayweather happening.

I still wanna see them fight at 147 though, because Floyd is a different style now than he was back then (He's almost 70% Defensive now, versus maybe 50/50 back then)

Don't know. I think fighting ODLH was the big thing back then. Floyd got that fight, Cotto did not.

After Mayweather beat ODLH, Cotto did not made sense for Mayweather, risk/reward wise.

Better fights were to be made, money wise, for much less risk.

As for Cotto, he's Top Rank. That should say it all.

Go back and watch the floyd gatti fight. Then watch Cotto's raction as he was next in line. Then check why TR didn't make fight at the time. Then go watch Cotto fight Mike Jennings. Then check that floyd quit TR because Bob said he couldn't get floyd $10 mil for cotto fight or $20 mil for ODH. Then see why floyd and cotto truly didn't fight.
