It would be a war. Whatw ould happen when Alvarez gets hit flush by Kirkland??? Alvarez was stunned briefly by a past prime Cintron once or twice, and a Cintron that doesn't have nearly the same power at 154 as he did at 147 3-4 years ago.

We haven't seen Alvarez against top competition like Cotto, Lara, Kirkland, Angulo. Same goes for Trout and Vanes. We haven't seen Alvarez in the moment where ne needs to dig deep and overcome some major adversity. We saw that with Kirkland a month ago against Angulo. He took the knockdown, took the shots, came back and dominated Angulo for the next 5 rounds and KO'd him. Kirkland with Anne Wolfe is legit, one of the top 2 or 3 SWW in the world (Cotto, Kirkland, Lara).

This is how I'd pick the 154 fights for Alvarez:

    Martirosyan: W UD.
    Trout: W TKO
    Mundine: W TKO
Cotto: W MD (Cotto is past it at this point.)
    Lara: L UD
    Kirkland: L TKO
    Angulo: W UD

I don't see Alvarez beating Lara at all. Lara is far superior in just straight boxing, and is far more slick than Alvarez. Alvarez has fairly quick hands, but how is going to stop Lara from hitting him, especially when Alvarez was hit clean plenty by Gomez and a past prime Cintron??? Alvarez-Kirkland is pretty much 50/50. If Saul could take Kirkland's power shots, he could pull out a decision I think, but if he is very affected by Kirkland's power, I think he gets TKO'd.

I would see Alvarez beating Vanes, Trout, Mundine, Cotto, and Angulo though.

Cashing out, really pathetic. Go fight James Kirkland or go retire. Sick of these protected belt-holders, its disgusting. The only reason he wants a Floyd fight is because of the money. Well, go fight good fighters to earn a Floyd fight and stop pretending you deserve to be given the Floyd fight for doing squat diddly **** except beating midgets and shot fighters up.

He's just looking to cash out instead of fighting fighters like Kirkland, Martinez, and Chavez Jr. He knows anyone of those fighters could beat him and cost him a payday.

Alvarez goes from beating up midgets who hadn't or barely fought at 154 to fighting shot fighters who looked like **** in their passed 2 fights. To now calling Mayweather Jr. out! This is whats wrong with boxing, fighters who do squat **** and then expect a huge pay-day.

U have 3 guys in ur stable u can fight right now who r in ur weight class, Kirk, Perrita and Lara! Stop callin out a guy whos smaller than u and far far not in the same league as him! U or noone will ever be ! Gtfoh! FMJ? U serious? U are afraid to fight guys who are in the top 10 in ur division yet alone want to fight the P4P king! What a joke! Anyone who gives respect for Ginger boy for callin out a smaller Floyd is ****** and anyone who thinks that he even stands a chance, seriously needs to be examined by a doctor! FMJ will teach this kid a boxing lesson and send him back to his Momma!

LOL @ people saying Canelo has balls. If Canelo had balls he would have went through the Trout call out before backing out, if Canelo had balls he would have fought Angulo when El Perro was his mandatory, if Canelo had balls he would be calling out Kirkland or Lara. Him wanting to fight a fight where he has nothing, absolutely nothing to lose. While at the same time getting a career high payday is not having balls.

Not when he was 21 though. At the time, Floyd wan't fully developed and wouldve got killed by oscar and shane. I believe they were around 24-25 maybe. Its the point i'm trying to make canelo. 21 years and hes willing to fight the best in the game. courage.

Alvarez needs to fight the Cotto-Margarito II winner, Kirkland, Lara, Martirosyan, Angulo, Trout-Munidne winner, etc. Any combination of those fights in 2012 would be good and get people more hyped about Alvarez and more people would buy into him more, and it would make a Floyd fight at 154 legit.
from abusiness standpoint its a great move by Canelo and GBP. Canelo likely loses but gets significant exsposure. Put kirkland v brundage in the semi main and then you have Canelo's next opponent. Or put khan in semi main for floyd fight.

GBP needs to get Canelo and Khan feet wet on ppv's this year.
