We haven't seen Alvarez against top competition like Cotto, Lara, Kirkland, Angulo. Same goes for Trout and Vanes. We haven't seen Alvarez in the moment where ne needs to dig deep and overcome some major adversity. We saw that with Kirkland a month ago against Angulo. He took the knockdown, took the shots, came back and dominated Angulo for the next 5 rounds and KO'd him. Kirkland with Anne Wolfe is legit, one of the top 2 or 3 SWW in the world (Cotto, Kirkland, Lara).
This is how I'd pick the 154 fights for Alvarez:
Martirosyan: W UD.
Trout: W TKO
Mundine: W TKO
Cotto: W MD (Cotto is past it at this point.)
Lara: L UD
Kirkland: L TKO
Angulo: W UD
I don't see Alvarez beating Lara at all. Lara is far superior in just straight boxing, and is far more slick than Alvarez. Alvarez has fairly quick hands, but how is going to stop Lara from hitting him, especially when Alvarez was hit clean plenty by Gomez and a past prime Cintron??? Alvarez-Kirkland is pretty much 50/50. If Saul could take Kirkland's power shots, he could pull out a decision I think, but if he is very affected by Kirkland's power, I think he gets TKO'd.
I would see Alvarez beating Vanes, Trout, Mundine, Cotto, and Angulo though.
