Its always a factor for everyone not named Floyd.

Sparring is not the same thing as the actual fight.

The inactivity will affect this fight.
I disagree, it all comes down to what you do in camp, and a pefect example of this is Ike Quartey who was set to fight Tito, suddenly Tito got cold feet (Promotional problems with King) pulls out of the fight Ike has an 18 month lay off as a result of nobody wanting to fight him comes through and in my eyes beats DLH.

Has another long lay off puts on a good showing with Vargas only to have another long lay off and in my eyes Beat Vernon Forrest, you dont have to be Mayweather you just have to have the right type of sparring and training

      1. Ike was in his prime vs Oscar and Vargas. Margo is clearly on the downside.

      2. There was nothing impressive about that performance against Vernon. That was a bad fight for both guys. + Vernon had a longer layoff than Ike by two months.

      3. Margo is coming off the worst beating of his life and I could see in the Manny fight he had already declined. He was slower on his feet. His upper body movement was gone. He could only have declined further from that fight. The higher weight is also slowing him down IMO. Even in his prime he didn't look great at 154.

One thing I agree we dont know the effect that the Pacquiao fight had on Tony, he did look a bit different in that fight, but when your being hit with questionable hand wraps that the commission refused to re inspect when requested that may explain it.

We have never seen Tony swell like that before and again from round 4 on he fought with a broken eye socket, thats not easy to do. But he did land more shots on Pacquiao than did Cotto in fact I think he landed the most shots on Pacquiao since the 1st Morales fight and he may have out landed morales.

Manny stayed in bed after that fight its not like Manny didnt get hit he got hit quite a bit, but again I think the Pacquiao performance we can agree that going into the 4th round seemed like it was going to be a bit too much for Manny, and in the 4th Manny turned that switch on and broke his eye socket...

Marg still took that beating though and I agree those are tuff to come back from but fighters have come back from that, and its not like Miguel hasnt had some struggles himself I say his fight with Mayorga wasnt exactly a showcase he too is on the downside

True.. but Tony seems to have the style that will get to Cotto. If Cotto boxes and doesn't gas for the full 12 I can see him taking it.. but he can't let Tony get to him and engage in a war. Either way.. I can't wait for this one.
