Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Confirms Cleverly-Shumenov Talks

By Frank Warren - It's in the early stages but I'm in talks with the promoter of WBA world light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov about a unification clash with WBO king Nathan Cleverly.

I'm aiming for it to take place early next year in Wales and it will be a big 'Homecoming' as Cleverly's last fight there was in 2007 on the Joe Calzaghe-Mikkel Kessler card. [Click Here To Read More]

This should be interesting...Cleverly by decision. Shumenov is not that great of a boxer, but he can punch...Not enough to take out Cleverly though.

Because Shumenov will get another gift decision?

this time there are two equally premier fighters. . . shumenov got the gift decision against a guy with no name or drawing power. . .

but in UK, refs seem prone to stop fights if the away guy catches a whiff of a strong fart. . . horrible. . . and im scared cleverly will get a gift decision. . .

las vegas is still more likely to be neutral than UK

clev will dominate shumenov, shumenov is only an average fighter with a good promotion, he was battered by Campillo last year, and hasn't won anything but a lopsided decision against Uzelkov

Cleverly be crazy to turn down a unification against Shumenov in Vegas. It's a fight he should win and could win impressively.

Homecoming would be twice as big against an opponent of his choice after a profile raising showdown in Vegas.

This fight would never happen, none of these two promoters would risk the fight happening when they can milk the belts...I have seen Warren over the years milking Hatton with bums after bums.
