WBO world middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog has advised BoxingScene.com about the progress of the negotiations for a potential unification bout with IBF middleweight Daniel Geale of Australia. Pirog is trying to set an alternate venue in Russia, if the two sides are unable to secure the television backing of HBO or Showtime.

This could be a good fight, Geale is a good boxer and I think he gave a good fight when he beat Sylvester in Germany, especially since it's pretty hard to get a decision in that country. Pirog is also a good boxer, I saw his fight against Jacobs and it was a pretty good win, however I think he's still a little bit more raw than Gale and still has to prove that he's as good as some people say. I hope they reach an agreement to make this fight.

the initial talk was for this to be on the new years eve showtime card with cloud-erdei why the hell hasn' that happened? Mw unification and both are relatively unknown to americans so having it a co-feature with a cloud fight is perfect.
