May the lord have mercy on Sergio Martinez's overrated cherry-picking ass, because Julio Cesar Chavez JR will have none. Keep talking this way and you'll get spanked, Sergio. 44 have tried and 44 have failed.

Why him, why not Proska who just easily stopped Sylvester or Lee who is on a good win streak. I just don't understand this fascination with the unproven untested Russian prospect.

Boxing fans are so fickle. When Pirog beat Jacobs everyone was going crazy for Martinez to fight Pirog. After Pirogs next fight they were saying how overrated Pirog was and they didnt want the fight to happen. Now some of you are saying for Martinez to fight Pirog.

        Make up your damn minds.

he fought an Argentine club fighter in Maciel and looked terrible and followed that up a year later by stopping punch drunk hobo.

Pirog has showed no desire to follow up his big win on HBO nor does he show any desire to fight in the USA. he wants Martinez but in Moscow. why in the hell could Martinez let Pirog call the shots?? lets not forget Pirog was losing the Jacobs fight on the score cards. if Jacobs sucks what does that say about Pirog?

Pirog is just a name *******s and Sergio haters like to throw around.
A couple of real good points there.

why would he want Pirog? Pirog only wants to fight in Russia and the offer was to fight in Russia. Pirog might say he'll fight in the US but actions speak louder than words. I want Martinez to fight Pirog but it means nothing until Pirog makes himself known. so HBO will put up the money.

Pirog turned down a fight with Manfredo, a fight HBO was willing to air to get him better known to HBO audience. Pirog turned it down to make more money in Russia, which is cool but it doesn't help him in making a fight with Martinez
Please post a link that HBO was willing to televise Pirog-Manfredo. The only way Manfredo gets on HBO is as fodder for a MARKETABLE figher. I've heard rumors of Pirog-Manfredo, but afaik it was FNF. I assure you Pirog is willing and eager to fight Sergio in America for challenger money, but the only way he can offer Sergio twice his best career purse is in Russia. You think the Russians putting up the money would be smart to stage that fight in Atlantic City? And let me remind you that he has pitched the Geale fight to both networks.

Is this a joke - when Martinez fought Pavlik he was undispisuted middleweight champ. When he fought Williams, Punisher was a top 10 lb 4 ;b fighter; when he fought dzinziruk he was an undefeated 154 lb champ (Martinez natural weight) who had been champ for 5 yrs; Barker was not considered a top 10 fighter but he was still an undefeated fighter. If Martinez is a cherry picker, who has he ducked? Pirog? thats funny. the guy beat 1 decent fighter in Jacobs and thats it. Pirog is no bettr than Barker; revisionist history.
People who say Martinez is a cherry picker no nothin about boxing. Is sergio lookn for big $ fights against chavez, pac or floyd - of course. he shud. hes 37 yrs old and deserves it after fightn Cintron, williams, Pavlik, Williams, dzinziruk in a row.
and whats funnier is a fan of chavez jr calln anyone a cherry picker when chavez' belt was cherry picked from Martinez' waiste. no tru boxin fan believes chavez is the middleweight champ over Martinez

I dont get it either ?

The guy has a nice style, maybe thats it ?

Personally, I want to see more of Pirog, I dont want him pushed under a bus just yet. But hey, he talks it, maybe Martinez should entertain the kid.

                Honestly, Martinez will spark him.

Martinez is right on top of his game, he is a finished product, Pirog is a work-in-progress.
