That’s only because there’s too much nationalistic sentiments on BOTH sides. While Cotto did lose in his first outing with Margarito that was in no way shape or form a one-sided fight.

To be honest, as much as people tend to say that Cotto lost something in that fight truthfully BOTH Cotto and Margarito left something of themselves in that fight alone. I mean, if anyone watched the fight closely both participants were throwing bombs early and BOTH were just physically taxed after this fight.

Some here argue Pac capitalized with this because again BOTH Cotto and Margarito were never the same after their fight.

I know. People talk about how as if Margarito beat Cotto in every minute of every round while employing a Mayweather-like defense. The truth is, both took A LOT of punishment in that fight. It's easy to overlook what Cotto did because:

a-) Margarito in the end won the fight.

b-) Margarito never looked hurt or stunned in that fight.

c-) When you compare their post-fight faces, Cotto looks much more messed up.

But it wasn't one-sided, I agree. Both fighters took A LOT of punishment in that fight and it was close towards the end (with Margarito edging it by one or two points going into the 11th)...

That was a brutal round. . . Margo's eye got broken in that round - you could see it literally lump and redden up after one shot. . . Then Manny hit his ass in the RIBS a few times. . . Margarito behaved like a true Mexican-latino vs Paquiao; resisiting on his feet everything even with a broken orbital bone. Cotto the puto took a knee.
