In my oppinion, Ann Wolfe would be the perfect trainer for Pac to switch to right now. Why? She is one of the best trainers for pressure fighters and teaches all the fundamentals. If her and Pac hooked up, they would be unstoppable. No more of this new boxer/puncher Pacquioao, he needs to be the pressure fighter he once was...
Pacquiao isn't simply a "pressure puncher", he uses his often brilliant footwork to get him where he needs to be to throw from all those unexpected angles. But you are correct if you say he has looked stale in the past couple of fights. I wrote about 2 years ago or more, that I thought he was over his peak and on the way down, and I've seen nothing to change that.

He's been on the very top for a long time, and has challenged himself constantly with increasingly bigger, heavier and tougher opponents. We all know he could comfortably make 140, and has to (acording to The Roach) eat up to 6 high protein meals a day to weigh in at 144 lbs. So it's not impossible that he could even make 135, and been fighting guys who have weighed in up to 150 lbs and who've rehydrated to 165 or more.

We've asked far too much of him, much more than has ever been asked of any other fighter. He really isn't even a fighter any more, he's a global merchandiser. And he can get hurt, and HAS been hurt, and has firmly stated that he would not fight in any division higher than 147.
Yet, those who want to see him ground into the dirt constantly taunt him to take on the brilliant champion middleweight at 154 lbs, or fight others against whom the disadvantages would be far to many, and all weighing more than 147.

    Why???

He needs to hire Jose Louis Castillo (who was his sparring partner for Cotto if I remember correctly) to teach him how to cut off the ring. JLC didn't have 1/10 the foot speed or overall quickness of a young Floyd but he was able to stay on him like white on rice:

For whatever reason, Freddie hasn't bothered to instill that skill in Manny.

          no need for a change.

roach was a pressure fighter when he was fighting. he learned from eddie futch , joe frazier's trainer. one of the best heavyweight pressure fighters in history.

with manny's speed , roach wanted him to use in and out movement.

and it has worked for almost all of pac's fights no? especially against bigger guys he can't/shouldn't really go toe to toe with.

and manny himself was a pressure/workrate fighter in his younger days.

To teach him what? It didn't help Oscar and it definitely won't help him. You cant teach an old dog new tricks.
That is his style and he will always revert back to it when he is uncomfortable in the ring.

Instead, Freddie got lazy, he didn't wanna teach anymore, he just threw statues in the ring and named them Margarita, Miguel and Joshua, lmao

To answer the thread question. Nah, he doesn't need to hire a new head trainer, what PAC needs is to hire another assistant trainer. I believe Michael Moorer had great insight since he was a helluva southpaw himself, it's too bad he was acting like a pr*ck and Roach gave him the boot.

Maybe someone like Winky Wright will do him some good.
