Can we stop talking about The Rock now?

How many chances does one mediocre talent get anyway? If he was from Europe he'd be slammed as a "bum" on here by now, but on the DK yo-yo he's constantly getting chances he hasn't earned.

So what if he missed out on a title shot? What has he done to deserve it? Hit the jackpot against a fat Lewis OVER FOUR YEARS AGO, had his name changed to Hasbeen in the rematch and then been slapped silly by virtually everyone he's met - including JOHN RUIZ and a SHOT EVANDER HOLYFIELD?

In his last fight he was rocked - rocked - by Monte Barrett, a man whom Chris Byrd would giggle at his lack of punching power. Before that people were bigging him up because he bashed up Kali Meehan over four rounds. That's the same Kali Meehan who Danny Williams KOed in 36 SECONDS.

I'm sick of seeing the silly arse and hearing his bull****. He's got a big right - who cares? He's got no boxing skill, and his chin's so suspect even Ruiz was backing him up like a *****. Then he's shooting his mouth off saying Vitali's scared of him. Of course he is.

It doesnt seem like anyone deserves a title shot by your logic. The problem is the competition just isnt there. Who did Sam Peter fight to get a shot at Wladimir? Who did Vitali fight to get a shot at Lewis? Who did Kirk Johnson fight to get to Lewis.. Lou Savarese? The list can go on forever. There arent too many GOOD heavyweights so unfortunately you end up fighting bums then getting a title shot. Rahman is getting a title shot because Don King feels that he has the best chance at winning. Otherwise there wouldve already been a tournament.

I think you're stretching it a bit to suggest that's my logic. It's not as if Rahman's been winning after all.

I do remember the days when there'd be a top twenty and the boxers would have to work their way up the rankings. Nowadays all you need is the right image and a contract with DK and you can piggyback as much as you like. Where's the competition element of the sport anymore?

On the subject, Danny Williams should have gone from Tyson to a top 40 heavy, then maybe a top 30, top 20...

To go from bashing up a shot Tyson to taking on the major heavy of the world is unbelievable.

well, you have to give rahman credit for last year when he fought five times in one year. pretty active for a 21st century HW... thats probly why hes getting a title shot, for being so active in 2004.

Well i just woke up and the coffee hasnt quite kicked in yet. Perhaps I took what you said a little out of context. Danny Williams fighting Vitali was a joke and it was career damaging. He hurt his hands in that fight over a guy who wasnt even worth fighting. Total mismatch. The problem was that Don King decided to leave Vitali out of that BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY heavyweight card in November and Williams was a big $$$$ fight cause he got a name for beating Tyson. Im mad because the unification could have been set up the second Brewster and Vitali won vacant titles. Don KIng didnt becasue he knew Vitali would easily beat Brewster, Byrd or Ruiz.

Yeah, his opponents in 2004 actually lost an average of 8.6 fights each, but at least he got off his fat ass and did something, agreed.

sometimes its better to fight five bums in one year than it is to fight 2 contenders/champions in one year.

I wanted to see how good Danny was in contention. Now I know he's better than a shot Tyson, but not as good as a prime Vitali.

But how would he do against the rest? I'll probably never get to know now.

Yea your right. But it dont matter champion or not Vitali would still get more criticism than anyone if he fought 5 bums a year but you make a great point.
