Comments Thread For: Andre Dirrell Expects Tough Fight From Cunningham

Super middleweight Andre Dirrell is eager to step on the ring on December 30th in a Showtime televised fight from Palm Springs, California. Dirrell (19-1, 13KOs) will face veteran Darryl Cunningham (24-2, 10KOs), who was previously scheduled to face Kelly Pavlik in a failed match earlier this year. Dirrell has been inactive since March 27, 2010, where he suffered a neurological damage after Arthur Abraham struck him while he was down. Dirrell won by disqualification, but the injury inflicted by Abraham required months of rehab.

great to see dirrell back in the ring, it would have been a damn shame if that cheap shot cost him his entire career. i think andre will have a big year, he should add to the ward, froch and bute mix of top 168lbers.

The Froch fight was a complete robbery so Dirrell is really undefeated. The Matrix is about to crush Cunningham. Ask any true boxing fan and they will tell you that Andre's speed and footwork resemble the greatest himself, Mr. Ali.

Kind of weird how Kessler pulls out of the Super Six, is boxing less than 14 months later and no one has a problem with it.

Dirrell pulls out of the Super Six, schedules a match more than 21 months later, yet there's still a problem with him pulling out.

I'm happy to see that's Darryl Cunningham and not Steve Cunningham he's facing. Good luck Andre!

I'm glad to see him back. He is one of the most talented fighters in the sport, it will be something to see if he can keep getting better and live up to all his potential.

                    Dirrell

I had the Froch bout a draw. Neither fighter deserved to win. Froch was ineffectual & Dirrell fought scared for 9 rounds.

But he grew up in that fight. He has a ton of talent but I'm still not sure he has a fighters mentality. We'll soon find out.

A great addition to the division & I hope he fights regularly next year.
