I didnt know that Margarito had a artificial lens implant...whats the deal with that eye ?

It just means cataract surgery. The eye lens normally becomes progressively clouded as we get older, but it can happen at a younger age too. So there is a very simple operation which takes less than a half-hour, in which there is a very tiny slit made in the eyeball, a micro instrument inserted which cuts or pulls out the clouded lens and then an artificial lens is inserted. Because the replacement is soft plastic it can be folded small thus needing only a tiny incision. It's opened up inside the eye and implanted. Then an eyepatch for a few hours or a day, then eyedrops for a few weeks to make sure ther's no infection. The incision is so small that no stictches are needed.

Only a few years ago they had hard lens which required much larger incisions which needed stitches and also had more chance of infection.

I think that Margarito was cleared to fight by his surgeon about a month after the op.

All cataract surgery is NATURALLY followed by an artificial lens implant. Otherwise hed need glasses all the time with about 1/2 inch thick lens. Like they had in the middle of the last century.

All you idiots on here who thought this wasn't going to happen in NY and started jumping on Cotto need to reexamine ****. If he took the fight with a eye deemed ****ty by the NY commission and won the fight somewhere else you'd all say he won bc of the eye, which you will say any because TRUTH is perceptive.

You dudes never laced em up with men half as dangerous as the men Cotto has and y'all say he isn't a warrior? Well, he doesn't even call himself a warrior, but he is.

Margarito's eye quit on him for life as a result of following Pac around the ring with limited skillset so as to look "bad ass." He knew he had no chance and decided to look like he was fighting back. ALSO... Pac admitted to taking it easier on Margarito than he did Cotto. He even asked Margarito if he was OK in the ring in between punches to the face.

The bottomline is, the world has little concern for a Mexican with a broken face and so the ref allowed Margarito to continue. Apparently Cotto's value was deemed a bit higher and so the ref stepped in. Imagine that shet... you have your EYE smashed to shet, and NOBODY gives a fack because you are born to be battered... expendable.
