It was typical of De La Hoya as a fighter to seek every conceivable advantage over opponents. Looks like he taught his protege well. Alvarez made a habit of fighting at 150 and either dragging smaller opponents up or draining bigger guys down. Now they want a guy who weighs 180 in the ring to come down to 156? Just make the fight already, 158 would be good for both. I hope DLH doesn't kill the fight like he did with the Trinidad rematch when he wanted to drain Tito with catchweights when Tito went up to 154 and then 160 and above.

what about the disadvantage of bringing a guy who has fought mostly at welterweight to middleweight? Seems like Chavez Jr's camp can only see the advantage of coming down but not vice versa. Its a fight everyone wants to see but not at the expense of one of them being handicapped by weight. If neither fighter can agree on the weight than just move on...plenty of fights for both fighters at their current weight.

Where are the Floyd haters? Don't duck this thread LOL.
Canelo asked to fight Chavez 4 lbs under the limit while Floyd is only asking for 2 lbs.

And now canelo is in the 2nd biggest fight of the past decade and chavez is fighting crap, off a suspension for weed, and looking like he gave Joey Chestnut a run in a hot dog eating contest. Sad but always said he was a garbage fighter living off daddys name
