Comments Thread For: Cotto: I Will Not Fight Margarito Outside of New York
The NYSAC will rule today whether they will allow the rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito to happen in New York at Madison Square Garden.
Good, don't let Arum's negligence fcuk you again. Finally standing up for himself.
I would do the same thing. He's not afraid to fight Margarito he signed to fight him, but he signed a contract and Arum put himself in a position to change that. And in changing that Cotto will go from a home game to another away game which is ridiculous.
As much as I want to see the fight I'm happy he's taking this stance. Hopefully this will be the end between Cotto and Top Rank.
Cotto said on a local newspaper his job was to fight, that he'd fight Margarito anywhere. I think the quote from the video of yesterday's media day workout was taken out of context.
I'm gonna' go out on a limb here and make a prediction.
The fight is gonna' be moved to Mississipi. Bob will do this so as to not make it in Texas although he wants to...he's simply keeping it as a last alternative to not give Margarito a hometown advantage while staying on Cotto's good side.
Cotto will go over the Mississipi option, consider he was counting out on a big turnout crowd for him (as well as the hometown advantage), not like the way Bob's handled the whole issue, not feel 100% for this fight with this unforeseen complication, pull out of the fight, leaving thousands of fight fans disappointed.
There will be two sides of the issue on boxingscene: those supporting Cotto's decision to pull out of the fight for not being in MSG and blaming Arum for not taking care of business beforehand, and the other side will be those blaming Cotto as the guy who had the option but refused to follow through.
Expect it the boards to be posting a lot of non-sense if Cotto pulls out...

I called it...it's going to be Boxingscene armageddon if NYSAC denies the license and Cotto pulls out. It's going to be a mess and there will be a poster-like civil war.
