I dont see the controversy here at all.

Cintron was " chosen based on his name value and recent fall from grace ".

He will also likely be " the toughest fight of Canelo's young career ".

I dont see the controversy.

They have done a superb job bringing Canelo along.

The only people who will have a problem with this fight are the folks who rate the ABC sanctioning bodies, and therefore probably consider the kid a genuine champion.

Cintron is exactly who he should be fighting.

Not hand picked? Who else would have picked him? Don't tell me Cintron wasn't hand picked when he's about the last guy anybody wants to see. Take a poll, nobody has Cintron at the head of his list for this fight. He was hand, cherry picked; Rhodes, Gomez, Cintron. How long is Alvarez going to pad his record and call it development? Fixing, arranging, and knowingly overmatching is cheating, not development.

The kid is 20yo, and Cintron is hardly a world-beater right now, but still dangerous.

Of course this is a development fight for Canelo.

It's insane to me that people think Cintron was handpicked and has no shot. Yeah Cintron lost to Molina, but so did Lara (unofficially). Molina is pretty damn good. Certainly better than Canelo at this moment. I'll be highly impressed if Alvarez disposes of Cintron, but honestly I see him coming up short in this fight.

i agree if cintron has anything left it will be canelos toughest test by far.cintron is long and def the biggest puncher canelo has been in with.its a good fight but just not a championship fight

Oscar is protecting Canelo. Cintron is almost dead, couldn't even beat a journeyman.
