There are a ton of factors that make me doubtful re. Margarito's guilt of a charge that hasn't even been formally pressed against him -- ie. that he cheated against Cotto -- and they've all been gone over to death on this forum.

Cotto slowed down from fatigue caused by the pressure of Tony (you can say plaster-assisted pressure, if you like) and being on the backfoot all night; Tony's workrate consumed him and Cotto got hit in the face a LOT. One component of my larger argument is that Tony was hitting him so freely in the face that Cotto would be Billy Collins Jr. right now if Tony had been packing plaster. As bad as Cotto looked superficially (which is what naturally happens when you take that many blows to the face), the permanent damage would have been a lot worse.

It's true, though. HBO have their agenda, a drama/storyline to push, but more and more boxing fans (the only ones who will really care, ultimately) have become sceptics re. Tony's guilt. You can see it here on this forum (and others). The_Bringer and Ottke's Twin, to name just two, were two of the most vehement (non Ricans) in their condemnation of Tony. Yet both have relaxed their stances in the two years since, admitting that the evidence of a Resto-like offence is far from compelling and that they got carried away in the case when it was current news.

We could sit here listing all day.


Not every last clown clinging to the suspension as girlishly as you is a BUTTHURT Rican, but the vast majority are.

When you consider what Tony tried to do in Mosley fight... the obvious conclusion is that the guy is a cheater from a 3rd world life and trying to leave that poverty by ANY means necessary. Desperation is a serious motivator and plaster wraps or steroid use is not out of the question. If you look at some cultures and study the overall lack of regard for life when it comes to making a few bucks.... plaster wraps are NOT in any way outlandish or out of the norm if it means rising from poverty.

The general belief LONG before the picture surfaced was that if Margarito needed to cheat against an OLD out of prime Mosley, a fight in which Tony was the favorite... that it was now apparent that he MUST have cheated against Cotto who was a young lion and favored to BEAT Tony. It was also noted that Margarito had become a one punch KO artist in prior fights against, Golden Johnson and Cintron (body shot) etc This seemed out of left field for a fighter like Tony who was NEVER regarded as a ****er.


You can continue to hang your Margarito posters today and continue to talk about lint on plaster wraps. But most logical people understand that where there is smoke... there is often fire.

The guy was not suspended because he was Mexican. He was suspended because he was found GUILTY of loading his wraps.

Without even trying or knowing they solved the controversy. The supposed crack, turns out to be nothing more than a piece of black thread. I noticed that during the video portion you are able to see it pretty clearly. The infamous photo is nothing more than a red herring. In the words of many a NSB poster "I confirmed it with slow motion." lol But, honestly check it out.

I agree it looks like a black thread, but it shows that the wraps that they tried to use in the Mosley fight most likely were the ones used in the Cotto fight.
