  • POLL - Who is more to blame for the Pacquiao -vs- Mayweather Jr fight not happening?

I choose not to believe that it is fully Arum, like so many people are pressed too.

People are too quick to forget that Pacquaio was fully capable of leaving his former promoter - Murad Muhammed.

That in itself shows Manny is more than capable of steering his own boat, but does not, so he should shoulder more blame.

This is essentially what I believe, and to kick things off, have voted Pacquiao.

    Bob Arum

Manny has more authority than Arum. Arum works for Manny... not the other way around. Promoters are mainly important in building a fighter into a household name and getting the fighter the best fights. Manny has been on the household name level for a while and he doesn't need Arum to tell him that he'll make more money fighting Floyd than anybody else. Manny only shows his own cowardice by accepting any fight that will make significantly less money than against Floyd.

Arum is just playing the scapegoat. They don't want to ruin Pacquiao's image so why not put the blame on Bob, he is already labeled as a bad guy. It's better to have 1 bad guy then 2.

And to the people who want to say it is Bob answer me this. Why would Bob not want the fight? If they fight he makes a boatload win/lose/draw. The fight is as built up as it's gonna be. In fact the more the fight is delayed, the higher chances May/Pac gets beat, the less money he would make. And don't say Bob cares if Pacquaio wins or not. Pacquiao is just another fighter to Bob. His career will be over in 2 years and Bob will be on someone else.

He has Manny trained like a master trains a dog. Sit, roll over, ect. He's convinced Manny that he can't function successfully without him. He's trained Manny to always say "it depends my promoter Bob Arum"..... "I'm just a fighter"... "testing is no longer an issue"... ect. Arum is the Boss in Manny's mind. It's a pathetic thing to behold.

I picked Bob, but Pac does have the final say, however Pac is not a man to stand up for himself. He lets others tell him what to do. This is why it is such a joke that he will probably become a president... he can't even stand up to one man or at least he hasn't yet.

I think Bob might have him in ways we don't know about and Pac would never do anything that would piss Bob off.... hence he just does whatever Bob says. It's easier that way.

Fair point, and thanks for coming to the table with an explanation, instead of just voting for Bob Arum like a few others.

I can agree to a certain extent with some of the points you made, but how does you explain why Pac was able to put his former promoter on his ass, yet cannot do the same with Arum?
