He got beat up bad in those fights. If we're going by pure facial damage, I'd say Margarito. The close-up shot of Cotto when he's in the corner during the first "8 count" is just appalling. He looks like he was next to someone who got shot in the face. It was gruesome.
Plus, there's something that Margarito did that Pacquiao didn't: he made Cotto submit. Not that I'm blaming him for anything, he was done, he really was. Just saying. Margarito gave Cotto such a beating that he was UNABLE to continue or even backpedal, that's how beat up he was. So my vote goes to Margarito...and even though it doesn't have anything to do with damage, per se, Cotto getting TKO'd in that fight had the shock factor.
Margarito took Cotto's best shots, laughed them off and broke him down round after round until eventually Cotto couldn't take no more. He made Cotto quit, leaving his face a bloody mess and in the process took his confidence and his undefeated record.
Pacquiao was able to drop Cotto early and forced him to retreat the whole second half of the fight to try and get away from Pacquiao's punches. he turned Cotto's face into a swollen mess but Cotto was able to stay on his feet until the ref decided he had seen enough.
ill go with pacqiao only cuz i know he whipped his ass legit with margarito you get the thinking about the possibility that he used loaded gloves and what not
Pacquiao definitely, it was more one sided. Even in the rounds Margarito was pounding Cotto, they were decently competitive rounds with good action you just knew what direction the fight was going. In the Pac fight it wasn't remotely competitive after the sixth.
