WBA Super Bantamweight champion Rico Ramos is preparing to face the interim champion Guillermo Rigondeaux on December 31st on Showtime’s last broadcast of the calendar year.
Ramos recently spoke to BoxingScene.com’s The Boxing Lab to discuss his thoughts on the upcoming fight. While he feels Rigondeaux is a good fighter, he also isn’t as impressed with the undefeated Cuban.

The kid lost every round soundly against Shimoda. His victory was a bigger suprise than seeing Lee be McEwan. At least Lee was getting his ass beat but engaging... Ramos was just soundly losing every round and then pulled a bunny out the hat by the grace of whoever it is he praises. Hype job was already exposed. He beats nobody decent with a chin.

Ramos said that he doesn't like to get hit. If he beats Rigo and goes on to meet Donaire, he will be hit. Probably harder than he's ever been hit before.

Rico is a good boxer, but never a great fighter. At least not yet for now. He needs to prove himself by defending not by unifying. He's just beaten Shimoda, which I say is a result of Shimoda's fatal mistakes. My pick at this point would be Rigondeaux by UD or later stoppage.
