Comments Thread For: Marquez's Trainer Taunts Pacquiao, Demands $25 Million

Speaking from the Romanza gym in Mexico, trainer Nacho Beristain taunted Manny Pacquiao when he advised BoxingScene.com/NotiFight.com that Top Rank and HBO would have to place a sum of $25 million on the table for a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. It was hard to tell if Nacho, fired up by last Saturday's decision, was actually serious, but more than likely it's a negotiating tactic to secure the highest purse possible for his boxer.

This guy is out of his mind. Pacquiao won a close fight---that's what it was, a close fight. And he did it by outworking Marquez down the stretch- exactly when 'lord Nacho' was telling his man it was in the bag. I have never heard such whining in my life-- you'd think it was Marquez that was chasing Pacquiao around the ring out throwing and out landing him. What a cry baby!

Bob Arum should be gracious he's only demanding 25million. After all Marquez is 3-0 against him.

Marquez would have won a majority decision, but he forgot to fight the last two rounds. You think he would have learned his lesson the first two times...I guess not.

So the part about getting $10 Million for a rematch if he beats Pacquiao wasn't in the contract afterall? Was Golden Boy not able to match up that deal or what?

I am not sure about any possible lawsuits but the $25 million demand sounds about right. Why are Top Rank so desperate to make a 4th fight when they are confident Pacquiao won their last fight and thus making it 2 wins and a draw.

Unless Marquez really wants the fight, I do not see why Top Rank wants a 4th fight. Bob Arum can not be serious about a 4th fight because he should realise by now that Pacquiao and Marquez are a match made in heaven and Manny could easily lose his star power by putting on another poor performance.

Top Rank needs to get Manny in with another Margarito type fighter and all the naysayers will be back on the bandwagon. But the problem is that Manny only has a couple of fights left before he retires so we shall wait and see what cunning plan Arum has laid out for the fans.

Arum isn't going to agree to this. It looks like Pacquiao's next opponent is going to be, Timothy Bradley.

Damn Marquez, as impressive it is that you make close fights with Pacquiao. It's mind boggling how mediocre to bad you are at negotiating and business. You're going to shoot yourself in the foot again if you and your team keep acting like incorrigible children. Next time, fight the entire fight. They're called the championship rounds for a reason.
