    Scully...

I know you worked Pemberton's corner as I saw you on in this corner, and I would just like your thoughts on the fight, and the future for lacy.

    Thanks.

    The Fight

Well, I try to look at the entire picture. Scottie is a guy who didn't turn pro until age 27....had only a few local amateur fights before that and hadn't fought in over a year before last night. He is 38 years old and had been stopped three times in his pro career before last night. I had about 5 weeks to try and teach him to fight Lacy the way he would need to.... His usual style was obviously not the way to go. He got hit last nightwith a huge clubbing right and the ref stopped it. You all saw it. The thing I STILL tell you is this... I don't care what some ANNOUNCERS say , either. Jeff Lacy IS overrated as a 'puncher' and I don't mean that as an insult. What I am telling you is this: Hearns, Bob Foster, Julian Jackson, etc were KILLER One punch KO punchers. Lacy is NOT (Just as Mike Tyson was NOT). Jeff is a very strong, hard punching guy with a lot of tanacity that has and will carry him far. I would have to say that at 168 pounds he would have bveen a 10-1 under dog against the likes of Roy Jones and James Toney when they were in their primes. Jeff beat Scottie last night with sheer strength and presense, with imposing his strength and will and not with a tremendous anmunt of pure skill. People get lost in trying to differentiate between the two. I do say at this poin tin time that Lacy is the best at 168 pounds..Calzaghe could have beaten him, maybe still can, but Joe is (due to inactivity) probably not what he was back a few years ago.

How were Scotty's spirits after the fight?

He's a class guy, and I know he's been getting a lot of acclaim the last few years and was looking forward to making some money while he still can to buy a nice place for him and his girl.

Also, what did Russ have to say about Adonis Stevenson?

What else is Russ up to in the next while.

It was good to see you guys on the Brodcast, and your interview on Russ's show was pretty down to earth and realistic.

      Cheers.

          Scully....

Why did you have to talk **** to lacy about his power. From my standpoint, lacy went in there to murder Scott, he had little to no technical showing in that fight, and it was on purpose, his goal was to show your whole camp that a sheer beating was on the way and he delivered. I think its a bad idea to do something like that and im wondering what propelled you to do this, other than that, its nice of you to post on here, dont take what i said as an insult.

Iceman isn't taking anything away from Lacy's power and heavy hands and the way he loads up haymakers, he's just pointing out that the likes of Tommy Hearns and Julian Jackson were better one-punch knockout artists. Mike Tyson wasn't a one-punch knockout artist in his prime because when he hit a guy down, if they didn't get up their eyes were still open anyway.. same with Lacy. Whereas the likes of Hearns and Jackson put guys to sleep with one single shot, and not just any old guys but a very high level of fighters (Duran, Norris, Graham etc).

But im saying by fueling lacy's fire by calling his power overrated further contributed to the rage he showed in wanting more than anything to prove scully wrong.

There's nothing wrong with saying Lacy's power is overrated, it doesn't take away from his as a fighter. He has to pound and pound to get his KOs but if it's effective then who cares, right?

Thanks to Iceman for the story from the trenches. Good to see Russ in the corner with you there, too.

What was the purpose of commenting on Lacy's punching power? Were the announcers riding Lacys jock and saying he was some 1 punch KO artist?

I watched the broadcast with the sound off...that's why I'm confused about the commentary on Lacys power.

Look, FIGHTERS arent scared of OTHER fighters (apparently announcers and black jesus are, though). Jeffs power IS overrated and that isnt an insult. Do you think he came out harder than he would have if I said nothing? Seriously, man
