The last time I spoke with boxing adviser Sampson Lewkowicz we discussed the announced May 5th return of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and how it impacted the sport. While people in boxing would prefer to see Floyd face off with Manny Pacquiao on that date, Lewkowicz made the case that it was his fighter and lineal middleweight champion Sergio Martinez who presented the bigger challenge.

Isn't Sergio mandatory for Jr after his joke fight w/Manfredo...let pac fight whomever ( probably around April/May), his bouts are always physical, better for Martinez, but I seriously doubt Martinez/pac ever happens..how far down can sergio go if he gets to '54???

Am I the only one that thinks it pathetic that the much bigger Martinez is chasing around the smaller fighters on the p4p list? Who's next, Donaire?

If he wants to move up the ranks he needs to fight better fighters; not just those above him on the p4p list. Neither Barker nor Dzinziruk helped him improve his stateside status.

If Floyd agrees to fight him, fine but to constantly chase these smaller fighters when he's not even facing quality opposition in his own weight class is pathetic.

At the end of the day, no one really knows or cares about Martinez, so there will be no big paydays, with Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez. Maybe he can fight Paul Williams again in Atlantic City...

Martinez would put Pac in a coma. You see how Sergio's adviser is not even pursuing anything with Pac. Let Pac get embarrassed by JMM again and have Bob continue to destroy Pac's image as a great fighter. If the 4th fight happens and Pac still can't beat JMM and gets out boxed again, then his career is done. Dumb ass should tell Arum that he wants to cash in with Floyd.
