    Using reason to find closure.

    Marquez - Age 38 Lightweight

    Pacquiao - Age 32 Welterweight

Intangibles - Pacman easily holds almost all of them over JMM. Speed, Power, Footwork, "P4P". JMM however, is the clear better boxer of the two and possesses a higher ring IQ and timing.

The fight was supposed to be an "I told you so!" type of fight for Pacquiao. JMM proved he is a legend in his own right by not only holding his own, but humiliating Pacman so much to he point where Pacman himself is chasing their 4th fight.

Round 10: "Manny, you're gonna have to go and put this guy away son"
    -Freddie Roach

"Juan you are winning the fight" -Nacho Beristain

"Pacquiao looked good but his body didn't cooperate with him last night. His -balance was off, he looked very ordinary, nothing special. He was exposed."
    -Alex Ariza (Pacquiao conditioning coach)

"I had Manny winning a close decision but I'm his promoter so my opinion doesn't count" -Bob Arum

"I'm going to advise Manny not to follow through with a 4th fight"
    -Michael Koncz (Pacquiao's Manager)

"Marquez beat Pacquiao by 1 or 2 points" -Amir Khan

Headline: Manny Pacquiao is no "Superman" -Manila Bulletin

Headline: "Either it's Marquez or a draw" -Phillipine Star

Amir Khan, Eric Morales, Timothy Bradley, Oscar De La Hoya, Naazim Richardson

JMM had a higher landing percentage in total punches 7 of the 12 rounds according to COMPUBOX and higher percentage in overall jabs 32% to 30%.

Associated Press, Sports Illustrated, Kevin Iole, Dan Rafael, Max Kellerman scored it 114-114

Most importantly we should note the age.. If Pacman would have been 38 and JMM was 32 would Pacman even be able to compete with JMM. Who really "won" this fight?

...doesn't sound like JMM Marquez lost anything

Before we analyze it in depth; we need the basic facts:

    Pacquiao won all 3 fights

now we can go in depth:

1st fight; pacquiao was just 1 handed and jmm was prime but jmm still lost

2nd fight; pac was weight drained, but overcame it and beat jmm again

3rd fight; pac had the advantages, and won a clear decision in my book.

the conclusion is that he wins the trilogy 3-0, with or without advantages

The mistake here was and always will be the perception that it was supposed to be an I told you so fight for pac.

With the exception of the mayweather fight marquez has dominated every fight he has been in since pac. So he was older but not more shopworn by a longshot.

People point to the supposed problems marquez had with diaz and katsidis as their argument that he had lost a step but against diaz he just looked annoyed at the volume of atm punches that smothered his counteroffense but was never hurt. Katsidis knocked him down because he pressed the fight looking to make a statement which was clearly far from his comfort zone. So those that really follow boxing and the career of marquez aren't surprised by how competitive it would be against pac.
