Mike Tyson vs. Boxing Fans: Is Tyson Unpopular? I Don't Think So

When I go on the internet to check whats up in boxing I always see threads and articles on Mike Tyson. What do they usually say? Tyson's Finished, He never was great, He is a degrace to the sport and on and on. If you never watched boxing you would think Tyson was nothing but if he is such a nothing why is he talked about every day. You would think by reading some of posts on some sites that Tyson is a very upopular boxer, on one site a person said "when I hear the name Tyson I vomit". But if he so unpopular then why is he the top PPV draw of all time.

Seems like a popular fighter to me just based on the numbers alone, so why does it seem like everyone hates Tyson to death now? Probably because they were fans at one time but after all the bad press, court appearences and losses gave up on Iron Mike. So Tyson in reality is probably the 2nd most popular fighter of all time behind Muhammad Ali.

It is because the world is filled with self righteous people who denounce the things he did, but pay to watch his fights in the hope that he does it. Mike Tyson is probably the BEST thing to happen to boxing in the last two decades. He keeps people interested and the sport alive. Boxing is a brutal sport and him biting Evander's ear just proves that it is a combat sport where the aim is to hurt your opponent by all means possible.

Nah...all that proved is that Mike Tyson is a mental midget.....who would rather disgrace himself than get beaten legitimately.
Mike's no bad-ass.....he's a coward amongst the true warriors in boxing.

He got beat up by Douglass after figting hard for 11 rounds, he fought his heart out against Lewis. He fought 11 hard rounds and got beat vs. Holyfield, the only fight he bailed on was the 2nd Holyfield fight. Tyson has always fought like a warrior when did he ever ducked a fight? when has he ever been scared of anyone? Mike's no tough guy? try spending 3 years in prison, growing up in the streets as a child, making your living kicking ass, getting your ass kicked, being arrested countless times and being put in jail, being broke after a twenty years of boxing and on and on. Hes still alive after all that! That sounds doesn't sound like coward to me.

Tyson had great success in his career.

It doesn't mean he shouldn't retire though, unless you want to see an even worse Danny Williams style beatdown on the poor guy . . .

He did keep charging out of his conner against Lennox. Tyson is a gladiator, simple as that. I hope he whoops Tarver.
