close and clear fights but gone the other way are robberies

pacquiao-marquez III was not one of those fights.

it was close with plenty of rounds going either way. no problem people saying they thought marquez won. cool.

but people saying they scored the fight clearly for marquez or pacquiao 9-3 or 8-4?

    gtfo.

Robbery should be reserved for exceptional cases where the losing fighter looked REALLY, REALLY spectacular and still lost.

Martínez-Cintrón wasn't a draw. It should've, at the VERY LEAST, a close decision for Martínez. There is no way that fight should've been a draw.

Malignaggi-Díaz I (?)- I don't remember very well, but Malignaggi looked pretty damn good in that fight.

You could also (and I'm a Floyd fan, by the way) call Castillo-Floyd a robbery. I saw that fight and had it 115-112 (with Floyd's point deduction) BUT THAT WAS BY GIVING EVERY CLOSE ROUND TO FLOYD. :S That fight, in reality, must've been, at worst for Castillo a draw, OR at best for Castillo, a clear decision. He punished Floyd badly in that fight.

Miranda-Abraham 1 (?) I don't remember if the controversy was because of the scorecards or because of the excessive point deductions against Miranda. Poor bastard...

Lennox Lewis-Evander Holyfield 1- The judge who had it lopsided for Evander was grilled by Larry Merchant if I remember correctly.

"Robbery" is tossed around far too often nowadays.

A robbery is any fight where the real winner is announced the loser in the "judges eyes"

          Paul Williams vs Erislandy Lara
Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez III
          Diaz vs Malignaggi

          just to name a couple

Man as soon as I hear one judge score it "even" its a down right clue that it is a robbery

williams/lara was the most recent blatant robbery that comes to mind...
IMO, robbery = clear & definitive winner is NOT awarded the victory.

pac/jmm III was too damn close... a draw wouldve been fair... too many toss-up rounds.... and close rounds ALWAYS favor the champ.

i JUST CANT BELEIVE SOME PEOPLE ARE GIVING 8 ROUNDS TO 4 FOR PAC
BASED ON WHAT? HE WAS HITTING GLOVES AND AIR ALL NIGHT
THE CLEANER MORE EFFECTIVE PUNCHES CAME FROM JMM EASILY
IM NOT SAYING IT WAS 8-4 FOR JMM BUT 8-4 FOR PAC IS JUST CRAZY
YES I KNOW ITS ONLY ONE ROUND BUT THAT IS HORRIBLE
                  THIS IS A CLOSE ROBERRY
                  JUST ASK YOURSELVES THIS
WHEN HAS PAC EVER LOOKED DEFEATED IN THE RING AND IN BETWEEN ROUNDS?
WHEN HAS PAC WALKED WITH HIS HEAD DOWN GOING BACK TO THE CORNER
WHEN HAS ROACH BEEN AT A LOST FOR WORDS

PAC GOT OUT BOXED, OUT SMARTED AND ROACH GOT OUT COACHED
AND YET THEY STILL GIVE IT TO PAC

IF MAYWEATHER WERE RETIRED THEY WOULD HAVE SCORED THIS FIGHT CORRECTLY AND AWARDED IT TO THE TRUE WINNER JMM!

                  THANKS ****** IGNORANT MAYWEATHER!

so the judges say pac won all 3

i say he won all 3 as well

but i do have the same score as you for this one; 116-112.
I'll tell you how the first fight was a draw..Pacquiao got those 4 knockouts winning the first 2 rounds 10-8 10-7...THAT ALONE PUTS HIM UP 5 or 6 rounds....hence Marquez winning more rounds but Pacquiao having such a big lead.

From rounds 3-12 I think I had Pacquiao winning about 1 or 2 rounds. giving him enough for a draw. Pacquiao/Marquez 2 didn't wasn't all that close. OUTSIDE OF THE 1ST FIGHT...every round Marquez wins he BARELY WINS...where as Pacquiao wins his rounds big.
